Encore is a 5-star Rectifier-wielder inWuthering Waveswith the power of Fusion. With her black and white sheep companions, she launches waves of Fusion energy at opponents, dealing great and consistent damage with her normal attacks.

While Encore’s kit may seem straightforward at first, there’s quite a bit you can do to optimize her damage output, whether through animation canceling or swapping to other characters at the right moment. Below, we’ll take a look at a few tips for playing as Encore.

Use Ultimate As Soon As Possible

Encore’s Resonance Liberation, Cosmos Rave, replaces her Normal Attack, Heavy Attack, Resonance Skill, and Dodge Attack withenhanced versions, greatly increasing her damage output. As such, it’simportant to use Encore’s Ultimate the second it becomes available.

Of course, if you need to swap out Encore to heal your team, that should take priority, just be sure to use Encore’s Ultimate immediately when you swap back to her.

Parry With Third Normal Attack

Typically, Rectifier and gun-wielding characterscan’t parry enemy attacks, putting them at a slight disadvantage when compared to melee characters. However, Encore knows no such weakness. If you time it right, you canparry attacks using the third hit of her Normal Attackchain.

While this takes immaculate timing to consistently pull off, with enough practice, it should become second nature. Her Normal Attacks also havehigh attack speed, meaning you can get to the third hit in the chain rather quickly. This is a great way tokeep dealing damagewith Encorewithout needing to dodgethe enemy attack or swap to a melee character that can parry it.

Swap During Heavy Attack

As Encore hits enemies with her Normal Attack, her"Mayhem" gauge(the line above her health bar) will fill up. When it’s full, you canhold down the attack button to perform Encore’s Heavy Attack, Cloud Frenzy, dealing damage that counts as Resonance Liberation damage.

However, Encore’s Heavy Attack animation isextremely long, almost to the point of being unusable. Luckily, you canswap characters during the Heavy Attack animation, and the attack won’t be canceled. This means you’re able to initiate Encore’s Heavy Attack, swap to your sub-DPS to keep dealing damage, then swap back after the Heavy Attack animation is finished.

This is the perfect time toswap to your support or healer character, do everything they need to do, then swap back to Encore and continue attacking.

Don’t use Encore’s Heavy Attackduring her Resonance Liberation. While you’re able to still swap to another character during the animation, you lose out on precious seconds of her enhanced attacks, which leads to tons of lost damage.

Animation Cancel Combos

Similar to swapping during Encore’s Heavy Attack, there are a number of otheranimation cancelsyou can perform to squeeze out a bit more damage in your rotation. The simplest combo you can perform isdodge-cancelling the final hit in her Normal Attack chain.

Basically, in thefifth attack in Encore’s Normal Attack chain, she will summon Cosmos for a brief second to deal a big hit of damage. Thislocks you into a long animation, but you can cancel out of it bydodging forward or backward, then immediately continue into the first hit of her chain to keep up the damage.

Similarly, you cancancel out of Encore’s fifth Normal Attack using her Resonance Skill. This is done in the same way as before, but the timing is much tighter. To perform this combo, use Encore’s Skilljust before the white aura flashesaround her. Then, you can alsoswitch into another characterduring her Skill to get a few hits in during this animation before quickly switching back.

Find The Right Team

Finally, one of the best ways to perform better as Encore is to use her with the right teammates. Team building is an important part of Wuthering Waves due to the Intro and Outro system, and with only three slots per team, you’ll have tothink carefully about who to include.

Encore relies mainly on herNormal Attacks for damage, so this is the first place to look when considering which teammates to bring.Sanhua’s Outro Skillincreases Normal Attack damage by38 percent for 14 seconds, which will greatly increase Encore’s damage.

Yangyangis also a decent choiceto pair with Encore because of her Outro Skill thatrestores Resonance Energyover the course of a few seconds. This will let Encore quickly get her Resonance Liberation ready, which, again, is one of the most potent increases to her damage output.

A healer likeVerinaorBaizhiis also important to include, so you can keep your time alive during difficult encounters. Of course, if healing isn’t necessary, you can swap out a healer for another buffer or sub-DPS character likeMortefiorYinlin.
