Summary
Nintendohas seemingly confirmed that Princess Peach won’t get kidnapped inMario & Luigi: Brothershipand will instead actively help out the brothers on their adventure.
Although most of us were expecting this week’sNintendo Directto be a bit of a quiet one considering the Switch is coming to the end of its lifecycle, the Big N was there to prove everyone wrongwith one of its best showcases in recent memory. One of the biggest surprises was Mario & Luigi: Brothership, which was shown right at the start of the Direct and revealed to be coming later this year.
It’s been a long time since we got a new entry in the Mario & Luigi series, soBrothership has quickly become one of the most talked-about games of the whole Nintendo Direct, a mean featconsidering how many other big titles were shown. Since that reveal trailer dropped,Nintendo has shared a bunch of new details about the game, including a hint at how Princess Princess will be involved.
Princess Peach Won’t Be A Damsel In Distress In Brothership
After the Brothership trailer was revealed,a pre-order page went live for the game on Nintendo’s website, giving us more details on what was shown during the reveal. As pointed out by Twitter user NlNTENH0E, one of the most interesting bits of information on the pre-order page is a brief mention of Princess Peach that seemingly confirms she won’t be kidnapped like usual.
The section about Peach reads, “Meet new friends along the way, like Connie and Snoutlet (who’s definitely not a pig), and encounter familiar faces from the Mushroom Kingdom like Peach and Bowser, who may help you on your journey”. This seems to suggest that Peach will play a more active role than in previous games and might even end up being a party member of sorts.
Funnily enough, this does seem to be hinted at during the reveal trailer too, as Peach can briefly be seen riding alongside some of Brothership’s new characters. She doesn’t seem to be in peril at all and actually seems to be enjoying herself, which certainly points to her not being a damsel in distress this time around.
Peach is having a pretty great year when it comes to being a hero,as she kicked off 2024 by being the star of the show in Princess Peach: Showtime.
There’s a chance that Peach does get kidnapped before eventually being rescued and turning into a helpful ally, but it seems that her safety isn’t going to be the primary motivator of this adventure. We’ve yet to find out what that actually is, but it’s nice to know that Peach will be holding her own.
