Summary

One Piecefans can’t believe how goodTencent’s One Piece: Ambition looks and are desperately calling for it to be made available outside of China.

For most of 2024,Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero has been the most anticipated anime gaming adaptation on the horizon, but the past few months have brought forward some exciting challengers. First, there was Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact, which looks set to bring Eighting’s iconic 3v3 fighting gameplay to the anime space, and now an upcoming One Piece game has emerged from nowhere and shocked us all.

That game is One Piece: Ambition, a mobile game from Tencent that was once known as One Piece: Project Fighter.Originally announced in 2021, Ambition’s status as a mobile-exclusive game made it something that most fans weren’t paying attention to, but recent gameplay clips that have been shared on social media have blown everyone’s expectations out of the water.

No One Can Believe How Good One Piece: Ambition Looks

Earlier this week,One Piece: Ambition had its “First Test Voyage” in China for iOS and Android userswhich, of course, has resulted in a bunch of gameplay being shared across social media. Although some of the positive reactions have stemmed from the combat and how the narrative is tied into the gameplay (like in this flashback scene with Nami), the main thing that everyone’s talking about are the visuals.

As you can see in the clip above that was shared by v2TokyoGhost, Ambition looks so good and captures the One Piece style so perfectly that it’s hard to believe that it’s a mobile game. It’s seriously giving FighterZ, Sparking Zero, and pretty much every anime game a serious run for their money right now.

It’s just a shame that One Piece: Ambition’s core gameplay loop has gacha elementsthat seem to be a bit more of a focus than the gameplay. At least itlooksamazing.

Sadly, as great as One Piece: Ambition looks, it doesn’t look like we’re going to be seeing it outside of China any time soon, as it’s currently only slated for release there. Combine that with the fact that it’s only in its beta form right now, and it looks like it’s a long way off release for the rest of the world, if it even ends up releasing outside of China in the first place.
