Summary

It looks likeNintendohas been sitting on a remaster ofThe Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princessfor theNintendo Switch. That’s if reporting by reliable insiderMidoriis to be believed.

Taking to Twitter, Midorioriginally shared that Nintendo is working on a project codenamed “Edward.“According to the insider, that project might be related to a new title inNintendo’s Legend of Zelda series. When asked by a user if that specific project was a re-release of Twilight Princess, they had this to say.

Rumors of a potential Twilight Princess remaster have been swirling for some time now, but this might be the first time that it has been openly acknowledged to exist. Not only exist, but seemingly also ready to release.

However,Wind Waker, which had an HD release on the Wii U, along with Twilight Princess have been seemingly stuck on old hardware. In the time since, fans have been clamoring for a port to the Switch. Now, it appears that at least one of them is ready to go. But the question of when, and if, it’ll see the light of day remains to be seen.

This Wouldn’t Be The First Time Nintendo Is Sitting On A Title

Nintendo has been known to play its cards close to its chest, especially when it comes to its first party offerings. Still, however, this wouldn’t be the first time that we’ve learned of Nintendo sitting on a title.

Justlast week we learned that the remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door was seemingly ready to goas far back as a year ago. According to Germany’s rating organization, the USK,The Thousand-Year Doorwas classified in June 2023, however, it wasn’t announced until September before releasing in May of this year.

A similar situation occurred with bothMetroid Prime RemasteredandFire Emblem: Engage. The two titles were both classified in 2021, though they did not release until 2023.

In other words, Nintendo seemingly has a stockpile of games that it may be sitting on, and a remaster of Twilight Princess is apparently one of them. At the same time, any of those three titles could have needed extra development time, which is why there is a gap between classification and release.

With a June Nintendo Direct on the horizon, fans will just have to stay tuned to see if Twilight Princess is part of the announcements. And if not, well we’ve waited this long.
