Summary
Fallout’s crossover inFortnitecontinues, as a new weapon is added to the battle royale. Today’s update introduces the tri-beam laser rifle, an iconic energy weapon that made its debut inFallout 3.
We already have footage of the laser rifle in action, but fans are split on its effectiveness. Some are disappointed with its slow speed, whereas others think that it will be strong enough to make up for that drawback.
Here’s What Fallout’s Laser Rifle Looks Like In Fortnite
While there are a bunch of different energy weapons throughout the series, including several that are different versions of laser rifles, this specific version is from the Fallout 3 DLC Broken Steel. It was then brought back for the next game,Fallout: New Vegas. In keeping with this, the sound effect used here is much like the one from Fallout 3, rather than the new sound these weapons got inFallout 4.
You should be able to find the rifle in Fortnite now, as players are already picking it up and trying it out themselves online. It’s the latest add-on that’s taken straight from the Fallout universe, with more to come before the crossover ends in August.
Of course, the main pull of the crossover is the power armour. That’s already in the game, using the T-60 model that was introduced in Fallout 4. We’ll have to wait and see if the models from the older games make the cut, but it makes sense thatEpicis leading with the most recognisable design here - even if it’s not the most popular with longtime, hardcore fans.
The crossover is still ongoing, and it remains to be seen what gets added next. Right now, with Fallout 3 and 4 representation out of the way, there’s a big New Vegas-shaped hole waiting to be filled. Is something from the classic games too much to ask for too? Probably. Almost definitely. But it would be nice to see an acknowledgement that they exist.
