Summary
In case you missed it,MultiVersusis back, and this time for good. The free-to-play platform fighting game featuring characters and properties from throughout Warner Bros.' franchisesmade its triumphant return to PC and consoles roughly a week ago, andit boasts a large roster full of popular characters, with more on the way.
The game takes a page from other fighting games, likeMortal Kombat, by havingits characters perform unique interactionseither pre-match or during the match. Most of the interactions are pretty unique, with characters spouting words and reactions that are very much in-line with who they are.
Of course, there’s always room for some wild interactions, and a recently discovered interaction between The Joker and Black Adam might be the best one yet.
The Joker Absolutely Roasts Black Adam In MultiVersus
If you happen to set up a match between The Joker and Black Adam, Joker will poke fun at the antihero’s real-life movie flop during the match. “Weren’t you supposed to be ‘rearranging the hierarchy’ or something,” is what Joker has to say, and it is as hilarious as it reads. Check it out:
Now, it remains to be seen if this interaction is only triggered by The Joker when he’s wearing The Batman Who Laughs costume, or if it can occur with the clown villain’s default attire. Either way, it is the exact kind of meta joke that is hilarious, accurate and very much in line with who The Joker is as a character.
And if you’re wondering why, specifically, Black Adam, then it’s worth recallingthe absolute trainwreck that was the Black Adam movie, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The movie was a direct spinoff to the Shazam! films, and it had the titular Black Adam starring in his own movie.
In the leadup to its release, Johnson filmed a series of real-life promos in which he declared that Black Adam would change the hierarchy of power in the DC Extended Universe – the name of DC’s attempt at creating a cinematic universe akin to the MCU. That declaration became an instant meme, and it was poked at further when the movie flopped.
At final tally, Black Adam grossed a touch over $390 million, which, on paper, sounds like a lot. But, the movie needed an estimated $600 million to break even, according to Variety, due to the insane budget it carried, including Johnson’s take-home, the production of the film and its massive marketing efforts. In many ways, it served as one of the final death nails in Warner Bros' DCEU project, and now it will forever be immortalized in a fighting game.
