Summary

MultiVersusdirector Tony Huynh has confirmed that several features from the Open Beta that were removed for the final release will be making their way back to the game “soon”.

It’s been an incredibly long wait for MultiVersus fans, but the beloved Warner Bros. platform fighter has finally returnedafter its Open Beta was taken offline for a year. Although some fans are just happy to see the game (Looney Tunes) back in action, it’s fair to say that the response so farhas been a lot more mixed than most of us expected.

One of the main reasons why MultiVersus' Season 1 relaunch hasn’t been received so well is because there’s asurprising number of features from the Open Beta that have just been completely removed, such as the ability to turn off the gauche team colour outline around characters or view stats after a match. Don’t worry, though, as many of them are making a return.

MultiVersus Will Get Back Most Of Its Missing Open Beta Mechanics

Over on Twitter, MultiVersus director Tony Huynh, confirmed that most of the features that players have mentioned are going to be making a return in the future, including team colours being toggleable, end-of-game stats showing after a match, input buffer settings being changeable and more.Huynh explained that most of the features were in the works, but had to be left behind due to time constraints.

Many of these features are currently implemented and are in testing and we had planned, but were left out due to time as we had to rebuild every screen and feature again to support our new netcode and Unreal Engine 5 switch. Thanks again! I hope some of this context is helpful.

Huynh’s Twitter replies also reveal that spectator mode is being considered for the future alongside the ability to give characters a try in offline mode if you haven’t purchased them. One of the only missing mechanics that seemingly hasn’t been mentioned so far is toasting back players, something I hope is also being brought back in the future.
