The galaxy inStar Warsis full of many strange and interesting characters. There are heroes such as the Jedi who strive to keep peace and there are dark side users that will do anything to achieve power. Many of the most popular Star Wars characters are the heroes featured in the films and series.
However, some characters seemingly became popular overnight with minimal scenes and dialogue. Some would even see a shift from most hated character to being remembered fondly. These minor characters in the Star Wars universe that got way too popular.

10Max Rebo
Galactic Blue Elephant
Max Rebo is a blue elephant-like alien seen in various Star Wars films and comics. He became popular due to his goofy design and occupation as a musician. Max Rebo’s first appearance was in Jabba’s palace, while later appearing in the Book of Boba Fett under new employment at the Sanctuary.
Max Rebo was present during the bombing of the Sanctuary by the Pyke Syndicate. Despite this, Max Rebo survived to continue his musical career. Max Rebo even got his first speaking role in Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

9Jar Jar Binks
A Secret Sith Lord?
Jar Jar Binks was a main character so hated that his role in the films was reduced to that of a minor character. Over the years, Jar Jar’s existence has prompted jokes as well as theories of him being a secret Sith Lord pulling the strings.
His decisions as a Senator caused numerous political changes that would fuel the rise of the Empire. Years later, Jar Jar would be looked back on fondly as a fresh wave of nostalgia hit fans. His actor even returned to the Mandalorian as a Jedi.

Live Slug Reaction
The Star Wars sequel trilogy had many iconic moments, such as the adventure through the space casino, Luke drinking space milk, and finding out Palpatine had somehow returned during a Fortnite event. However, one character in particular stood out to fans, making him an internet sensation overnight.
This is Klaud, a slug that appeared in the background ofthe Millennium Falconduring The Rise of Skywalker. Despite having brief seconds of screen time, he has since been adopted as a reaction image online.

7Boba Fett
Most Popular Bounty Hunter
Boba Fett had only a few scenes in The Empire Strikes Back. He also appeared briefly in Return of the Jedi with only a few lines before being sent flying into a sarlaac pit. He was cold, had a fantastic set of armor, and wasa highly skilled bounty hunter.
These traits made him an instant hit with fans as one of the first minor Star Wars characters to skyrocket in popularity. Since then, he has had even further character development as Jango Fett’s clone son and, in the future, as a crime boss taking Jabba’s place.

6Captain Phasma
Finn’s Old Captain
Captain Phasma first appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. She wore sleek shiny armor and cracked down on her units at any sign of dissension. This made her a powerful new menace to look forward to in the sequel series.
Despite being sent to her death during The Last Jedi, the comic books continued to expand her extended backstory. As more was revealed about her battles and leadership over Finn’s Stormtrooper brothers, she slowly began to gain the popularity she was designed for.

5Jedi Master Yaddle
The Female Yoda
Jedi Master Yaddle was a female Yoda only seen in the background during Anakin’s interview with the Jedi council. She had no lines of dialogue, but her mere existence sparked many questions among the community. Who was Yaddle? Were there more of Yoda’s species? Does she speak like Yoda?
Yaddle would eventually be given a speaking role in Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, proving once and for all that Yoda’s way of speech is unique to him. She would be killed by Dooku as a test of loyalty to Darth Sidious.

4Mon Mothma
Last Voice Of The Republic
Mon Montha was the leader of the rebel alliance. She had one unique line of dialogue that set her aside from other characters. This was in reference to the fact that many Bothans died to secure Intel on the Death Star.
Mon Mothma would eventually be given more screen time with series such as Star Wars: Rebels and the Andor series. There, she would continue to argue against the Empire in a quickly dwindling Imperial Senate as more Star systems began to fall in line with the new regime.

3Admiral Ackbar
It’s A Trap
Admiral Ackbar made his fame with only a single line of dialogue. Warning the rebels of the imperial trap during the battle of Endor, “It’s a trap” quickly became one of themost quotable lines from the original trilogy.
Since then, he’s been featured in action figures, video games, and even various skits for Robot Chicken. He was even shown leading his people into battle as a much younger soldier during the Clone Wars. Admiral Ackbar would also return to live-action in the sequel series with an on-screen death during The Last Jedi.

2The Rancor Keeper
Even Villains Feel Compassion
In Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Luke Skywalker tries to convince Jabba the Hutt to release Leia and Han from captivity. This results in Luke being tossed inside a pit where he faces off against Jabba’s pet rancor.
Luckily, he is able to kill it, but despite the victory, one character makes the win feel bittersweet. The Rancor Keeper shows empathy towards the monster crying over its death, showing that even monsters have people who love them. This has caused many fans to show support for the minor character, even giving him enough popularity for expanded appearances.

1Greedo
Who Shot First?
Greedo was the first bounty hunter to appear in Star Wars. Holding a gun to Han Solo’s face, he was determined to collect the bounty placed on his head by Jabba the Hutt. After offering to maybe cut him loose if he turns in Jabba’s money, an altercation occurs that would make Greedo forever relevant.
In the original cut of the film, Han Solo shoots Greedo first to show how ruthless he can be. In later edits, Greedo would shoot first, with Han only shooting back in self-defense. The question of who shot first would become a popular topic of discussion.
