Summary

For those of you mercifully unaware,Twitterjust got another rubbish update. Now, you can’t view anyone’s likes. Hell, you can’t even view your own outside of the notifications tab. It’s dumb, very few people were asking for it, and it’s perfectly in keeping with what we’ve come to expect ever sinceElon Muskbought the site.

So, users have agreed on a new way to share their love for a tweet - the Miiverse Yeah. Now, users are spamming screenshots of the Yeah icon from Miiverse, just so they can make it clear that they endorse that particular post.

The Miiverse Yeah Becomes The New Like Button

Users started spotting this pretty quickly after the daft update went live, making it harder to see who has liked your posts. Now, a bunch of users have tried different methods of expressing their approval, and one of them is the Yeah image.

It’s being used in the replies to all sorts of tweets, very much confusing some users. It appears that not everyone spent their formative years in the Wild West that was Miiverse - a true tragedy.

In case you need a refresher, Miiverse wasNintendo’s attempt at a social media network, primarily accessed through theWii Uand3DS. It lasted from 2012 to 2017 and is now fondly remembered for the absolutely wild, hilarious, and sometimes shameless posts that made it up its feed. Here’s a tweet with some of the highlights.

We truly didn’t know how good we had it. Perhaps if Nintendo brought it back for theSwitch, we’d finally have a Twitter competitor that gives everyone a run for their money.

For now, this is just the latest bizarre chapter in Elon Musk’s ownership of Twitter. Or X, as I probably should be saying, but won’t because I’m yet to hear someone call it that in real life. It does look like some people are able to view the likes on their own posts again though, so it remains to be seen if this decision sticks.
