Summary
With theNintendo Switch’s seven-year run winding down, this month’s Direct was expected to be relatively low-key. JustNintendorevealing more remasters and remakes to tide over Switch owners until its successor arrives. Turns out Nintendo still has big plans for its current console and the Direct was packed with reveals, the biggest of which wasconfirmation Metroid Prime 4 still exists. That won’t be here until 2025, but to help fill the time between now and then, you can pick up Metroid Prime Remastered for less.
The price of the remaster has been cut on the Nintendo eShop, presumably as a way to get more people playing it in preparation for the next game in the series. The digital version of Metroid Prime on Switch is currently $33.99, down from the usual $39.99. While a $6 reduction might not sound like much, seasoned Switch owners will know that most first-party Nintendo games on the console remain at full price no matter what.

According to Nintendeal, that’s the lowest price Prime’s remaster has ever been available for, so worth picking up now if you don’t already own it for that reason as well as preparing for Prime 4 Beyond’s release. Unfortunately, the physical version of Prime Remastered isn’t on sale, at least not through Nintendo. Physical copies of the remaster are available for slightly less at Walmart ($37) and GameStop ($38), but buying the digital version directly from Nintendo is still considerably less.

WHERE TO PLAY
Metroid Prime was a huge leap for Samus when it hit the GameCube, and its remaster brings everything that was great about that milestone title to the Nintendo Switch. Experience Samus Aran’s first-ever 3D adventure all over again with additional polish, making the Nintendo classic feel and look better than ever.
Nintendo hasn’t yet opened pre-orders for Metroid Prime 4 Beyond, probably because it doesn’t have a firm release date, just a very vague 2025 release window. That might be because the next Metroid game will be a cross-gen release on the Switch and Nintendo’s next console. Other thanpromising to reveal something about it before the end of the current fiscal year, Nintendo hasn’t said anything about its next console.
Even certain Switch games with firm release dates can’t be pre-ordered in the US yet.The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom, andMario & Luigi Brothershipwere two other big reveals during June’s Direct, neither of which can be pre-ordered yet. No news on when you’ll be able to place a pre-order forthe Hyrule Edition Switch Liteyet either. A lot more to come from the Switch before it’s replaced, but committing to what’s to come, for the most part, is not yet possible.
