Summary
Metroid Prime 4has finally been rerevealed after seven long years, with a new trailer during this month’s Nintendo Direct.
When it comes to games that have been in development for an excruciatingly long time, Metroid Prime 4 is up there with Beyond Good And Evil 2 and Perfect Dark. While wefinally got another trailer for the latter earlier this month, it’s been all quiet on the Metroid Prime 4 front, much to the distress offans that have been waiting seven yearsfor Nintendo to give them something to look at other than a big four on a black background.
Thankfully, that long wait is finally over, as Nintendo revealed during its June Direct that Metroid Prime 4 is alive and well and titled Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Not only that, but we also got a proper trailer for the game showcasing some gameplay, which was sorely lacking from the original announcement, and a vague release window of 2025 that will hopefully get narrowed down in the near future.
Metroid Prime 4 Is Alive, Finally Gets New Trailer
Despite having seen nothing of the title other than a logo over the past seven years, Nintendo gave us the good stuff with a bunch of gameplay very reminiscent of the old Metroid Prime games. It definitely looks like more of the same, and for Metroid fans that will be plenty.
With a release date of 2025, there is the small matter of which consoles the title will launch on. Nintendo does state in the description of the game’s trailer on YouTube that it will be launching on the Nintendo Switch, though it does seem pretty likely it will come to the Switch successor as well, similar to how The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild launched on Wii U and then Nintendo Switch. That is just speculation, but it would be very strange to make a title as big as Metroid Prime 4 exclusive to old hardware.
