Summary

It has now been confirmed followinga teaser posted at the weekendthatLego’s nextLord of the Ringsset isan impressive recreation of Mordor’s Barad-dur, complete with a Lego Eye of Sauron at its peak. The set will be released on June 1 and cost $459.99. A big purchase, but if you’re certain you want to buy it ASAP and can afford to do so, anyone who picks up the set during its first week on sale will get an additional Lord of the Rings set thrown in for free.

The store page for the Barad-dur set still hasn’t gone up, but those who have unearthed the finer details about its price and release date have also discovered that between June 1 and June 7, the set will come with a Lego Fellbeast. Effectively a companion set for your Lego Barad-dur, the Fellbeast is 269 pieces and includes a Nazgul Minifigure wielding a sword. Perfect for anyone who wants their Lego Mordor to extend beyond Barad-dur alone.

The inclusion of a Nazgul with the free set will bring your Minifigure total up to ten if you buy the Barad-dur set within a week of it going on sale. Frodo, Sam, and two versions of Sauron are among the nine characters included in the upcoming Lego set which will be made up of almost 5,500 bricks. Getting the Lego Fellbeast with the Barad-dur set might be your only chance of ever owning it as Lego is yet to confirm whether the smaller set will be sold separately either alongside its larger companion on June 1 or after it’s given away as a free gift.

Making the Fellbeast available to buy rather than exclusively giving it away with a set that costs almost $500 would be a great idea as right now, or from June 1 when the Barad-dur set is released, the two Lord of the Rings sets available are both very big and very expensive. The only other set from Middle-earth released during the modern era of Lego’s relationship with Lord of the Rings is 2023’s Rivendell set which is both bigger and more expensive than the upcoming Barad-dur one.
