Summary
A reliable gaming insider has claimed thatKingdom Hearts 4is currently aiming to launch in 2026 and that more information is planned to be released “at a later date”.
Even thoughKingdom Heartsfans are more than used to waiting a long time for new entries in the series, one of the biggest question marks in the industry right now is when Kingdom Hearts 4 is going to release. A lot of fans hoped that we might see it atSummer Game Fest, but if a recent rumour is to be believed, it might not show up in 2024 at all.
A few months ago,it was reported by DanielRPK that Kingdom Hearts 4 was set to release at some point in 2025, which gave fans a lot of hope that more information about the game would be shared in 2024. It seems that might not be the case, though, as another reliable insider has suggested that it’s going to launch in 2026 instead.
Kingdom Hearts 4 Might Not Launch Until 2026
Over on Twitter, reliable gaming insider MbKKssTBhz5,who is best known for their leaks regarding Sega games, shared an update on Kingdom Hearts 4. In the tweet, they said that the “currently planned release window” for the game is in 2026, a year later than DanielRPK previously reported.
They alsoreiterated that Kingdom Hearts 4 “looks different” now than it did when it was first revealed, which could be due to the game switching from Unreal Engine 4 to UE5,something that was announced by Tetsuya Nomura shortly after the first trailer. Don’t worry, though, as Midori says that it’s not a bad change.
If Kingdom Hearts 4 really does launch in 2026, then it’ll be seven years after the release ofKingdom Hearts 3. Ouch.
Although 2026 might seem like it’s very far away (and it is), Midori also said that more information on “the future of the series” will be revealed at a later date, which hopefully means at some point this year. It seems unlikely that it’ll be at the Xbox show on Sunday, though, so it’s worth curbing that expectation now before going in.
