Summary

October 11 is almost here, and a whole gamut ofDragon Ball: Sparking! Zeronews is coming out on what feels like every day. In the past week or so,fans have learned that the game will have a season pass, thatit will have split-screen functionality, thatthere will be “What If” scenarios in the game’s story mode, as well asa robust battle sharing system. Oh, and thatthe game’s premium collector’s edition is already being scalped.

On Thursday, Bandai Namco uploaded a six-minute overview trailer, where Sparking! Zero’s various modes were showcased. Those modes include, “Episode Battles,” which is the game’s de-facto story mode, “Custom Battles,” where players can create and share battles with other players across the world, and the game’s “Local Multiplayer” functionality, including the reasoning behind some of their decisions.

In all, it’s a hefty trailer worth checking out. That said, the real juicy bits about Sparking! Zero have come from all the impressions and gameplay footage fromSummer Game Fest. Through that footage, internet sleuths have been able to identify some new roster members, including what seemingly appears to be Kid Goku from the original Dragon Ball anime.

Kid Goku, Dr. Gero And More Seemingly Confirmed For Roster

It might be hard to make out, but the silhouette of Kid Goku is briefly shown in one of many screen cutouts. Goku appears to be doing the one-handed Kamehamehathat he used against King Piccolo in the original Dragon Ball anime. While it remains to be seen if Dragon Ball storylines will be playable in the game’s “Episode Battles,” it’s at least confirmation that a pivotal version of Goku will seemingly be part of the roster.

There had beensome fear whether original Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball GT characters would be part of Sparking! Zero’s roster. To this point, there has been no confirmation of GT Content, but Thursday’s footage does give credence to Dragon Ball at least being included at launch.

Elsewhere, in one screen of captured gameplay, Dr. Gero can be seen in the character selection screen. He is situated at the bottom of the selection screen next to his fellow androids. Dr. Gero was assuredly a given for the roster given his importance to the overall storyline, but the confirmation is nice nonetheless.

A screen in Sparking! Zero’s “Custom Battle” mode also gave way to confirmation for Chiaotzu. Much like Dr. Gero, the child-like best friend of Tien, was certainly a lock for the roster, but stranger things have happened before. Check it out:

With only a handful of months remaining until launch, it stands to reason that more and more roster members will be revealed. Whether that’s through V-Jump scans, character trailers or savvy internet sleuths, any news is good news. And before fans know it, October 11 will finally be here.
