Summary

The streaming platformKickhas stated that it’s currently “too soon” to discuss a preemptive ban for Dr DisRespect, following the streamer’s admittance that he was banned fromTwitchfor sending explicit messages to a minor.

Dr DisRespect’s (also known as Herschel “Guy” Beahm IV) career has taken a nosedive over the past week, after it was revealed thatthe streamer was banned from Twitch back in 2020 due to him sending explicit messages to a minorover the now defunct messaging system Twitch Whispers. It’s caused various partners, such as Turtle Beach and the San Francisco 49ers, to pull their support, andBeahm’s own studio has even cut ties following the controversy.

It seems no matter where you look, Beahm is losing support, though he recently stated in a long Twitter post earlier this week that he wouldn’t be disappearing completely following his extended vacation. We already know that he’s been permanently banned from Twitch, and it seems unlikely that YouTube will continue to give him a home, but it seems as though Beahm may have an ally in rival streaming platform Kick.

Kick Isn’t Ruling Out A Preemptive Ban For Dr DisRespect

Kick’s head of strategic partnerships, Andrew Santamaria, was asked on a recent stream whether the company has preemptively banned Beahm from setting up on the platform following the accusations made against him this week (thanksDexerto). Rather than giving those concerned a solid answer, Satamaria has kind of batted away the question for another day, claiming that it’s currently “too soon” to decide whether Beahm should be banned from the platform.

Who knows? I think it’s just too soon to even consider that. Based on what I’ve seen with Doc, I don’t see the guy making a comeback anytime soon. I think he genuinely wants to take some time off and decompress,”

That is a little odd, as you’d have thought that not a single company out there would be willing to work with Beahm given the amount of baggage he’s carrying at the moment. Then again,it’s not like Kick has a squeaky clean reputation to uphold either, as it’s considered the place for controversial streamers to go to get away with things that often wouldn’t fly on YouTube and Twitch.

It’s possible that Kick could eventually decide to preemptively ban Beahm if he ever returns to streaming, like he claimed he would in his most recent statement. Santamaria wasn’t very clear in his wording of the situation and mostly just brushed the question to the side, though he didn’t rule out not banning him either. We’ll have to see what happens, though some more recent allegations about the streamerpotentially knowing he was sending explicit messages to a minorback in 2020 may have made the situation a lot messier.
