If you’ve explored the world ofGenshin Impact, done dailies, or beaten Spiral Abyss, you’re most likely already familiar with the monolith defense mode. In this mode, the enemies spawning on the battlefield will directly target the monolith, and you’ll have to prevent it from getting destroyed.

The defense scenario game mode in the Mutual Security Enhancing Simulation event features an upgraded version of the same style where you have to use mobs to defend the monoliths, and here’s how you can easily beat each stage.

Electro and Hydro Cicin

Center

Pyro and Electro Slime, Blazing Axe Mitachurl, Eremite Sunfrost

The first stage opens up with a path on the left side and the middle, butit’s relatively easy to get you used to the mechanics. You’ll only have the Sweeping Whirlwind skill available here, and it’s also the best one to use. The battle starts with you having a Pyro Slime, Electro Cicin, and Pyro Mechanism.

The best setup for the start is placing the Mechanism on the very edge of the circle between both the monoliths so that you’re able to defend them both at the same time. You can also place theElectro Cicins near the edge on the Left Flankand Pyro Slimes behind the monolith in the center. This will help you easily deal with the first wave.

Once the Pyro and Electro Slimes come in contact, it’s recommended to use your leadership skill to defeat them easily.

For the second and third waves, you’d want toplace most of your units in the centersince this is where most enemies attack. You should easily be able to beat this stage past this point since you’ll also have the skill to help you defeat the smaller mobs.

Right Flank

Blazing Axe Mitachurl, Hydro Samachurl, Cryo Hilichurl Shooter, Treasure Hoarder Pyro Potioneer

Ruin Guard, Hydro Mimic Finch

This round starts with you having quite a bunch of units, but there willbe a lot of enemies coming from the first wave itself as well. You can place the Pyro Kairagi and Cryo Specter in the center while placing the Nobushi and the Pyro mine on the right side. This mine will be useful in the subsequent waves.

This should be enough to clear the first wave for you, and you can also use theBlazing leadership skill on the Mitachurl in the centerto keep your units in a healthier position for subsequent waves. Moreover, you should place all the Mechanisms you get from support beacons in the middle of the two monoliths like in the first stage.

You can also get a yellow-colored mine that slows an enemy down heavily when they come in its radius, butit’s not too useful for this stageso you can place it in front of any of the monoliths.

You’ll want as manymines as possible in the center for the third waveas this has some tanky Ruin Guards and quick Hydro Mimics.

Pyro Specter, Kairagi, and Slime

Cryo Specter, Electro Kairagi, Electro Slime

This stage is pretty straightforward at the start. You’d want to place the Mitachurl and Hilichurl on the left flankwhile the Seahorse and Hydro Cicins go on the right. It’s important to place units like this since the Seahorse won’t be able to damage the slimes and Cicins are required to target the Cryo Specter on the right.

Your seahorse will likely be defeated in the first wave, but you can keep it alive a little longer by using your skill on the Nobushi. Moreover, if you get a Cryo Mechanism, it should be placed on the Left Flank since you’ll get the most value out of it there due to Electro and Pyro enemies in the subsequent waves.

The battle in this stage will be close, so you have tokeep an eye on the Support Beaconsand use them whenever they appear.

For the second wave, you’d want most of your firepower on the Left Flank while you may use the two skill charges to lower Nobushi’s health on the right. After that, you’ll have to balance everything out on the final wave.

Eremite Sunfrost and Desert Clearwater

-

Anemo Fungus, Electro and Hydro Cicin, Ruin Guard

After clearing the third stage, this one will feel a lot simpler and easier. Place theElectro Mechanism in the middleonce again with the Cryo Specter near the left flank. You can place the rest of the enemies in thecenter to counter the tanky Eremites from the enemies.

For the second and third waves, it’s recommended to place most of your enemies in the centerso that they can support both sidessince the enemies only come from one side in each wave.

Ruin Guard, Cryo and Pyro Specters

Nible Harvester Mek, Bubbler Seahorse, Suppression Specialist Mek

As the name might already suggest, this stage relies onbuilding up your teamfor one final wave. In the first two waves, you’ll only be getting enemies from one portal, which makes it significantly easier to suppress them. However, your main goal here should be to lose as few units as possible during the fight.

For the first and second waves respectively, you’re able to place all the units in the center and the Right Flank. However, it’s recommended to place them a little to the middle so thatthey can aid the other side in the third wave if needed. If you play this round correctly, especially with the healing skill, you’ll most likely max out on units before the third wave, giving you an easy win.

Hilichurl Fighter, Cryo Hilichurl Shooter, Blazing Axe Mitachurl

This is quite an interesting stage since the enemies from the Left Flank always remain the same, but their numbers increase with each wave. For the start, you’d want to placeAnemo Mechanism and Pyro Specter on the rightwith the Blazing Axe Mitachurl and Cryo Mechanism on the left. You can place the Cicins on either side.

Unfortunately, youcan’t share the units between the two monolithsfor the most part in this one due to the distance between them.

If you’ve placed Cicins on the left side, you canuse your leadership skill to get rid of the Hilichurls quicker. From this point, you’d want to have at least one Mitachurl on each side if possible to tank the damage, but the Right Flank is a higher priority for that since theRuin Guards won’t attack the Mitachurl anyway.

On the other hand, it’s better to place all your Cicins on the Left Flank from this point to defeat the Guards as fast as possible. You cankeep placing your Mechanisms on the right side, especially the Anemo one, to deal AoE damage.

Nimble Harvester and Suppression Specialist Mek

Bubbler Seahorse

The final stage of this event will open all three portals at the same time, and enemies will spawn from all three of them in every wave. This is the main stage where you have to utilize the shared unit strategy the most, sinceyou can’t afford to have units dedicated to one of the monoliths.

In the beginning, you’d want to place the Pyro Kairagi and Cryo Hilichurl Shooters in the middle of the Left and Center monolith, withKairagi being closer to the left one and Hilichurls closer to the right one. On the other hand, you can place the Eremite and Seahorse in the middle of the Center and Right monoliths.

Even though you’re sharing units, you’d stillwant them to prefer one of the monoliths, which means putting them closer to it.

When the wave starts, you can simply use one leadership skill onthe Right Flank to get rid of the Pyro Slimes easily. This will let all your units work toward defeating the Electro Cicins while keeping as much HP as possible. If you get any mines, it’s recommended to place them on the left side to damage the Ruin Guards since most enemies on the other sides are flying.

It’s highly important to have a Sunfrost Eremite near the Right Flanksince this unit can easily get rid of the Seahorse’s Electro shield. It’s a similar situation for Cryo shooters in the middle since they can freeze the Hydro Mimic and shoot down Cicins.
