On the surface,Helldivers 2seems pretty simple. But there’s a lot of depth and hidden mechanics that all gel together well and provide an engaging and constantly evolving Galactic War. One hidden bit of tech is Supply Lines.
Though not immediately noticeable, Supply Lines have quite a big impact on how the wider war evolves and the more people that are made aware of them, the smoother the spread of Democracy will be. So for those looking to bring liberty to those lost worlds, here’s how to use supply lines in Helldivers 2.

What Are Supply Lines?
First and foremost, Supply Lines are ahidden mechanic in the gameand are not visual at all. They’reroutes between planets and their neighboring systemsthat are taken by the A.I. factions and the wider player-led army.
Each Supply Line goes in apredetermined directionand whilst often going in just one route, they can often swing around and link up with multiple worlds.

For example, a Supply Line could lead to one particularlydeadly planetin a chain, which is usuallythe target of a Major Order, but that planet also hasconnecting lines on the Galactic Mapthat ark off to other connecting side worlds. These will all need to be cleared and that takes time.
Multi-chained planets can be the reason why certain Major Orders take a lot longer to complete than others. There’s alot of ground to liberatefirst.

How To Use Supply Lines
Whilst youcan’t interact directly with Supply Linesand you can only roughly hazard a guess at where they are, there are ways to tell where you should be throwing your squad for their next Helldive.
For starters youcan’t progress backward on the supply line, you’re able to only go forward with the rest of the horde. If you’re unsure where that direction is, there’s aHelldiver 2 Community-madeGalactic War Live Mapof the ongoing conflict that updates in real-time.

It shows where the next Major Order is being aimed and that’s generally where you should be going. Gaining more supply lines is crucial as more of them meansmore boots on the groundand other benefits.
How this translates to the game is; say there’s aMajor Order for a specific world in space, you conquer that and there’s now aSupply Line going that directioninto the next nearby Sector.

However, if you’re dealing with aMulti-World Sector, going for the other worlds and not the one in the Major Order meansthe conflict gets dragged outmuch longer than it needs to be.
Losing a Supply Linecuts off all nearby planetsthat were part of that particular chain, causing them todegrade and require Liberationagain. However, each faction can only attackplanets connected directlyto a particular chain.

In the long run, this leads tofewer Helldivers in other areas of the galaxy, less variation in the types of drops you may do,flanks into Sectors outside of the Supply Lines, andthe Major Ordertaking ages to complete. This means you’ll bestuck waiting around for way too longfor those rewards to drop. Even longer if it’s aDefence Campaign.
It’s acomplicated system, but there’s a reason it’s hidden as it keeps the Galactic War feeling alive and organic in its changes. So just head where High Command is telling you to go Trooper.
