XDefiantbrings together Ubisoft’s biggest series and lets them duke it out in an online arena shooter. While you can choose between a diverse selection of factions, you’re only given one representative from each to play with immediately, having to earn the others.
Each class has two characters that are inaccessible when first turning the game on. These additional characters may be unlocked through the completion of challenges, allowing players to further customize their appearance. Unlock challenges are tied to each faction’s unique abilities, so you’ll need to use the first character to access the rest.
Kersey
Get 50 kills using the Firebomb ability.
The Cleaners hail fromThe Division, and bring their signature brand of pyrotechnics with them.This faction excels at controlling space, making certain parts of the map hazardous and inaccessible with their fire-based abilities.They’re incredibly useful in game modes like Domination, where the goal is to hold points of interest for a certain amount of time.

Get 25 kills using the Blitz Shield ability.
Phantoms represent theGhost Recongames, and arethe closest thing XDefiant has to a conventional tank role. They boasta higher health pool than other factionswhile sportingportable shields to protect themselves and others. You’ll want them on the front lines of firefights to soak up damage.

Stepping outside the Tom Clancy brand for a moment, the Libertad guerillas are fromFar Cry 6. They’re agreat choice for those who like to play support roles, healing the squad with their character abilities. Of course, they’re only useful if they can stay alive, andtheir equipment has long cooldowns.

Get 50 assists using the Intel Suit ability.
Taking operatives from a stealth series likeSplinter Celland implementing them into a first-person shooter might sound like an impossible feat, but Ubisoft managed to pull it off. Echelon spies cansneak around maps with their Digital Ghillie Suit, surprising unaware enemies. Even more useful, however, might be the Intel Suit, whichlets teammates see the other teams' position, even through walls.

The hacktivist group DedSec fromWatch Dogsround out the selection of playable factions.Their main role is running interferenceon enemies; Lockout, the class’s ultimate, willshut down any abilities triggered by the opposing team. They can alsosteal the skills of other players and use them for themselves(like activating a Boo item in Mario Kart).
Unlike the rest of the factions,DedSec needs to be unlocked prior to getting access to any of their characters. You can do this by eithercompleting a major challenge, orpurchasing them for 1,000 XCoins.
