Valorantis a first-person shooter where you overpower your opponents with gunplay and special abilities. There are several agents you can choose from before you start a game in Valorant, and each possesses a unique set of skills, designed to aid your team as you go against your enemies.
The different agents in Valorant are classified into specific role types, and one of these roles is the Controller. As a Controller, you are tasked with helping your team take control of an area by cutting vision or forcing enemies into difficult spots. One of these Controllers is Clove.
Who Is Clove?
Clove is a mischievousScottish Controller agentwho was released in Valorant on July 18, 2025. As a Controller, their task is tohelp the team succeed in taking up space on different maps.
Clove’s abilities are unique for a Controller, because they encouragea more aggressive type of play. This, coupled with smokes to block vision, makes Clove an agent of chaos who cantopple down defenses and put a halt to enemy advances.

Pick-Me-Up
This skill allows Clove to absorb the life force fromthe body of an enemy they damaged or killed. After absorbing their life force,Clove gets a speed boost, as well as temporary health.
Press C to equipthe skill.Left-click (FIRE button) on an enemyyou damaged or killed to activate it.

Meddle
This is piece of essence can bethrown towards an area, and itexplodes in a small radiusafter a short delay. All those caught within the radius will beinstantly Decayed, and this condition lasts for a few seconds.
Click Qto equip Meddle.Left-click (FIRE button) to throw itin the direction you’re facing.

Ruse
This is a smoke ability, which allows you toplace an ethereal orb that can block visionin your chosen areas. you may haveup to two smokesat a time, but each willrecover after a few seconds. This is the only smoke ability thatcan be used after the Controller’s death.
After Clove dies, Ruse smokes can only be placedwithin a radius around Clove’s body.
Click Eto select the Ruse ability.Left-click (FIRE button) on the spotswhere you would like to put down your smokes.Right-click (ALT FIRE button) to confirmthe location and place the smokes down.

Not Dead Yet
This is Clove’s ultimate, and it is gainedafter collecting 7 orbs. This ability allows you toresurrect yourself if you are killed in battle. You’ll be invulnerable for a few seconds, and you canmove around in order to reposition yourself. Once you exit the invulnerable state, you’ll need toearn a kill or an assistin order to stay alive.
Hit Xafter dying to activate the ultimate skill. If you change your mind, you can hit X againin order to cancel the activation.

Meddlecan affect enemies, allies, and even the Clovethat threw it. Exercise caution when throwing Meddle.

Using Valorant Points To Unlock Clove
The quickest way to unlock Clove is by purchasing them using1,000 Valorant Points or VP.
To do this, you’ll need tohead to the Agents menu, then you’ll need to select Clove from the list of agents.
Once you have Clove selected, click on the"Recruit Agent" button.
Select theoption to use VPin order to unlock Clove.
Valorant Points are the in-game currency which is purchasedusing real money. To purchase points, you’ll need to click on theValorant logo or the V iconin the upper-right corner of the main lobby screen.
Earning 200,000 XP To Unlock Clove
During theAgent Recruitment Event, which runsuntil June 25, 2025, you can unlock Clove for free byearning 200,000 XPwhile playing the game.
One way to earn XP is byplaying different game modes. Each type of game mode offers a different amount of possible XP earned:
200 XPper round won and100 XPper round played
1,000 XPper match
900 XPper match
Escalation
800 XPper match (+200 XPif match is won)
Another way to earn XP is bycompleting missions, and you’re able to complete a set ofdaily and weekly missionsregularly.
Daily missions will require you to completefour checkpoints, and each checkpoint will give1000 XPwhen reached. Each checkpoint will require you to earnfour points, and this is earned in different ways:

Team Deathmatch
2 pointsper match completed
Weekly missions will have youcompleting objectivesthat you can accomplish while playing matches. The total amount of possible XP you can earn weekly varies, andthis is the quickest way to earn XP in Valorant.
Using Kingdom Credits To Unlock Clove
Another way to unlock Clove is by spending8,000 Kingdom Credits or KC. In the recruitment screen, you’ll be given the option to use Kingdom Credits to unlock Clove, butit’ll only be available after the Agent Recruitment Event.
Kingdom Credits can be earned by completing objectives in the game. If you’re not in a hurry to unlock Clove,this is the easiest way to get Clove for free.
How To Unlock Clove’s Gear
Each agent hasspecial gearthat players can equip after they’re recruited. There are two chapters worth of gear, and there areten tiers of gearin total.
To view Clove’s gear, you’ll need to select Clove in the Agents menu. Then,click on “View Gear”.
To unlock each tier of Clove’s gear, you’ll need tospend Kingdom Credits, and each tier comes at a different price.

The Best Way To Play Clove
Clove is unique as a Controller, becausetheir kit rewards action.
Pick-Me-Upwill require you toat least damage an enemyfor you to absorb their life force.Not Yet Deadworks similarly, and you’ll only stay resurrectedif you kill an enemy or gain an assist while you’re currently using the ultimate.
That being said, you should be proactive inattacking your enemies alongside your team. Clove is the type of agent thatdoesn’t stay behind.
The way that Clove smokes alsoencourages taking fights. Ruse can be usedeven after Clove falls in battle, so taking initial fights will not completely deter them from doing their jobs as controllers. Positioning is very important though, becausesmokes can only be placed within range of Clove’s bodyafter death.
The Meddle ability is great as well, but it’s bestpaired with utility that deals damage. One example would bepairing Meddle with Raze’s Paint Shells.
