Initially, Agent Smith was supposed to be added post-launch as the first DLC fighter for therelaunched version of MultiVersus. However, Player First Games sneakily added him to their upcoming roster completely at the last minute. If you’re wondering how you can get Agent Smith in your MultiVersus playthrough, read on.

How To Unlock Agent Smith
While all fighters in MultiVersus can be unlocked eventually, there’s a special temporary event happening right now for Agent Smith.
By participating in the“Beat Rifts, Get Agent Smith Free!”event, you can unlock Agent Smith before he becomes officially available on the regular roster.
The “Beat Rifts, Get Agent Smith Free!” event will run fromMay 27, 2024, to Jun 29, 2025,and requires you todefeat multiple Rift bosses.
A Rift Boss is the final enemy at theend of a Rift, which requires completing several nodes. For every Rift boss you defeat, you will earn one point.
You needat least 20 points to unlock Agent Smith– which is possible if youbeat all the bosses in the Rifts PvE mode on all difficulties.
Every difficulty of a Rift counts as a separate first-time encounter with the boss. So, if you defeat a Rift boss on all five difficulty settings, that adds up to five points to Agent Smith’s track.
Unfortunately, this is currently impossible to achieve, as there aren’t enough Rift Bosses available yet. Moreover, the available Rifts only have four difficulty levels (with the hardest setting, Looney, locked until July 10).
You will need towait for all five Rifts to be released and then defeat them on all four difficulty optionsto earn 20 points and unlock Agent Smith.
By progressing through the “Beat Rifts, Get Agent Smith Free!” event, you’ll alsounlock an exclusive Agent Smith variant and earn up to 3,000 Fighter Currency, which can be used to unlock other characters in MultiVersus.
