While wandering the halls of the hotel inLorelei And The Laser Eyes, you will encounter a door that requires a Diamond Key. Soon after that, you’ll find doors that correspond to hearts, clubs, and spades. You can get pretty far into the game without finding these keys, which can make themprettytroublesome.
Thankfully, we have all the answers you need here. We’ll tell you how to take playing cards and transform them into keys, we’ll show you where to find any playing cards you may have missed, and we’ll guide you through any other bits and bobs related to these damned doors.
Unlocking The Magician’s Caravan
The first hint you will receive about the solution to this puzzle is in one of the torn posters which declares “Turn cards into keys!”. A little on the head, Mr. Lorenzo. You will be able to do this by interacting with the magician in the caravan outside the hotel. Of course, there are a few steps you will need to complete in order to do this…
Once you have put the tickets through the slot in the door, and handed Lorenzo his rose, you will be able to enter the Teatro Rosso. Walk up to the stage and hand Lorenzo your aces to receive those keys.
Where To Get The Tickets
You will obtain the tickets by calling Lorenzo and telling him which animals you saw on the “cave” walls. This is the puzzle you will encounter in the northwest corner of the courtyard.
You can reach the courtyard by climbing the stairs on the first floor, and heading straight. If the path is currently blocked off, then you will need to open room 2014 and talk to the gentleman in the top hat first.
You will find Lorenzo’s phone number on the table in the fortune-teller’s tent, head back to the reception desk and call him.He will give you a set of directions. Now, head back to the tent and interact with the crystal ball.Just follow the directions Lorenzo gave you (these are saved in your photographic memory bank, but you will probably want to jot them down).
Once you have input the directions correctly, you will be able to see animals on the tent walls through the crystal ball. Just mark down which animal is on which wall, and head back to Lorenzo. Once you have told him about the animals you saw, you will obtain the tickets.
How To Solve The Piano Puzzle
Where To Acquire The Rose
You’ll get the rose by completing the piano puzzle. You’ll find the Piano in the Music Room. This room is located in the southeast corner of the first floor. When you sit down to play the piano, you will see a piece of sheet music. On the piano, there will be two sets of dates (for us, it was 2014 and 1984, but this may change across playthroughs).
Worry not, youdon’tneed to be able to read sheet music.Just count the number of notes located in each bar. So, if a bar has four notes, press the piano key with a four written on it, if the bar contains no notes, press the key that has a 0 written on it.Once you have played all the correct keys, you will be given the rose.
Where To Find The Four Ace Cards
The Ace of Hearts cardis almost unmissable. You will find that one while inspecting the box ofThe Ace Of Heartsmovie in Room 2014.The Ace of Spadesis one youcouldskip past if you aren’t diligent about opening every book you encounter. It is found alongsidethe “Cartomancy” bookin the fortune-teller’s tent.
The next two cards can only be obtained once you have gotten the Heart Key and Spade Key.The Ace of Diamondsis found in the “Evidence Submission Form”, which is located in theSpade Room, whileThe Ace of Clubsis found in the"Journal du Sud"in theHeart Room.
The Heart Room
You’ll find this room in the southwest corner of the second floor. There isn’t a puzzle here, just make sure to read all the documents, they contain a considerable amount of vital information that you will need later in the maze. As we already stated, you will find an ace card here.
The Spade Room
This room is on the east side of the second floor, like the Heart Room, there isn’t a puzzle found inside, just multiple documents that you will need to refer back to later. You will find another ace card in this room.
The Diamond Room
Unlike the Spade and Heart rooms, there you will need to complete a puzzle to open the lock blocking off the southern door. There are two wooden carvings on the ground. Inspect both of them.For us, the man had “2014” carved into their base, and the woman had “-1847” carved upside down on hers. So, the code was 167 (2014-1847). We suspect the dates will change depending on the playthrough. Once on the balcony, you will be able to lower the east balcony ladder.
The Club Room
The Club key will let you access a ladder which will take you to a balcony. You will enter the room attached to this balcony by using the"Note found in typewriter". The passcode will be the “second magic word”. Once inside, you’ll see that the man in the top hat is in chains.The password for us was “Lorenzo”. However, if that doesn’t fit, try “Renate”, “Renzo”, or “Lorelei”.
The Prison
Finally, you should have access to the prison by climbing down the east balcony ladder. To get to the ladder, use the “first magic word” located in the"Note found in typewriter"(this will open the balcony lock). Climb down the ladder, and down the stairs, to find the man locked in a cell.The password for us was “Renate”, but if that doesn’t work, try “Lorenzo”, “Renzo”, or “Lorelei”.
