Unlikemany survival gameswhere you play as a single character,Soulmaskallows you to control and tame different NPCs to leverage their skills, abilities, and map knowledge. Taming is how you can recruit these NPCs to your tribe and assign them different jobs around your base, like gathering essential resources, maintaining your bonfire, and handling basic camp upkeep.
Moreover, having more tribesmen in your group allows you to accomplish tasks more efficiently and gives you more freedom to explore the world. Since these tribesmen are crucial for your survival, learning how to tame NPCs is one of the first things you should do in Soulmask.

How To Tame NPCs
Occasionally, friendly characters like Vagabonds or explorers will visit your camp and ask to join your tribe on their own. While this sounds like a convenient way to gain new members, it happens quite rarely.
To grow your tribe, you’ll need to actively find NPCs, like Barbarians and Outcasts, andtame them. These hostile NPCs are mostly found in settlements and camps all over the map and are ready to attack you.

Before you can tame an NPC, you’ll need toprepare bandagesandsome kind of liquid food(like Broth or Soup) in your inventory. Additionally, try to minimize the amount of items you carry to reduce weight.
Next, head to the NPC’s camp and engage in combat. Use your weapon toattack the NPCanddrain their health to about 20 percent or less. Then, hold the ‘E’ keyandclick on the ‘deter’ optionto knock them unconscious.
After you’ve subdued them, approach the NPC again and access their inventory. If they’re injured, place a bandage in the NPC’s inventory to stop the bleeding. Then, place liquid food in the NPC’s inventory andpress ‘E’ to feed the NPC.This helps increase theirRecognition meter.
Once the Recognition bar reaches500 or above, approach the NPC andpressandhold the ‘E’ key to see the ‘Recruit’ option. Select this option to officially add the NPC to your tribe. They will now become a member of your team and can be assigned tasks around the camp.
