There are many adventures to be had inSea of Thieves, whether you choose to go it alone or experience the joys of the open ocean with a pirate crew. There are plenty of options to ensure that you can play peacefully or engage in epic battles with your crew.

Through the multiple matchmaking options, you can ensure that you have a functioning crew that meets your needs, or you can prevent others from being in your game entirely. With the addition of new platforms for Sea of Thieves, there are more pirates than ever before to help you achieve your goals.

How To Create Or Join a Crew

When you log into Sea of Thieves and choose to set sail in anything other than the Tutorial, you’ll be able tochoose the worldyou load into, yourship size, andwhat kind of matchmakingyou want to do. This will decide what kind of session you’ll have, but some settings can be adjusted mid-game.

Toplay crossplay co-op with friends in Sea of Thieveson other devices, you’ll need to connect to them through a Microsoft account.

To create a crew, you should decide whether you want it to be random or just for your friends andselect ‘Open Crew’ or ‘Closed Crew,‘respectively. If you want your friends to join your crew, or you want to join theirs, you’ll have to send an invitation in the pre-game lobby or while you have an open slot on your ship.

How To Join A Random Crew

If you don’t have any friends who play Sea of Thieves or want to shake things up, you can join another group of pirates at any point. Once you’ve chosen your world and ship size,choose an ‘Open Crew’,which will load random crew members.

From that point, you’re free tocommunicate with your new teamabout your goals and embark on an adventure.

What Is The Maximum Crew Size?

There’s nothing like playing Sea of Thieves with a full ship of pirates that work together in sync. The most you can play in a single squad is four, with theGalleon being the largest vesselin the game, specifically for groups of that size.

Three ship sizes can be found in Sea of Thieves, but you’ll need tocharter a new one for each sessionunless you purchase one.
