The world ofWuthering Wavesis a chaotic one. After numerous disasters that continue even into the modern age, monsters called Tacet Discords run wild. Some of them are especially powerful and are classified as Overlords, and the Tempest Mephis is one such creature.
This Electro-wielding humanoid is capable of lightning fast attacks and combos, and wields its massive tail like a glaive as it fights. It may be terrifying, but you’ll need to fight it if you want to ascend your Electro Resonators and get your hands on them as an Echo to use against the many other foes you’ll fight.
Tempest Mephis Location
To get access to this boss, you’llneed to meet two requirements: first, you’ll need to havecompleted the main story missionHuanglong Chapter One:Ominous Star.
You’ll also need to have reachedSOL3 Phase Two by reaching Union Level Ten, whichunlocks various boss enemieslike Tempest Mephis.
Once you’ve met the requirements,head to Qichi Villageand godown into the open cave in the middle of the areathat you went into during the story mission. Navigate to the bottom, and you’ll find the Tempest Mephis in themiddle of the cavern on top of the Tacet Discord.
Unlike some other Overlord class enemies, the Tempest Mephis doesn’t need to be summoned and willalready be present when you go downinto the cavern.
How To Beat Tempest Mephis
Tempest Mephis is afast moving bossthatfrequently goes invisible, but during its invisibility, you’llstill be able to attackit. The best way toget its Vibration Strength downis byusing Counterattacks, and themajority of its moves can be counter-attackedand this will give you some time to get in some extra damage.
Effective Characters And How To Recognize Attacks
BothTaoqi and Baizhi are great for counter-attackingTempest Mephis, as Baizhi can hit them from a long range, and Taoqi’s slower attack speed gives you a better window to react and not end up being mid-combo.
The Tempest Mephis will mainlyuse a combination of quick slash attacks and tail swipes,as well as a two-partmove where it charges forward then disappears and does a ground slamwith a damaging wave. All of thesecan be counter-attackedwhen the Tempest Mephis’attack is surrounded by a gold ring, and it’llknock a big chunk of Vibration Strength offthem.
Stay Close And Beam Attack
Because of its speed and invisibility, you’ll want tostick close to the boss and keep attackingit as often as possible, as themore counter-attacks you do, the quicker it will be immobilized briefly.
While rarer than its other moves, the Tempest Mephis willoccasionally shoot a beam with a long attack rangein one direction. Make sure tododge to either side, then run up to it and get some hits while it’s standing in place.
Manage And ReduceElectro Flare Stacks
While fighting, you’ll also want tokeep an eye on the status effect it hits you withduring most of its moves: Electro Flare. If you haveunder four stacks of Electro Flare, you’ll have yourAttack reduced byfour percent.
If youget over five stacks, it’llreduce your attack by seven percent and inhibit your movement, and if it hits max, you’ll have a whoppingten percent attack reduction.
Yourlock-on effect works even while the boss is invisible, andit can help you know where it is constantly.
Electro Flarestacks will gradually wear offif youavoid being inflicted with moreof them, but most of Tempest Mephis' attacks can inflict it, somake sure you dodge as much as possible. If youget too many stacks, stick to theedge of the area to try and avoid the bossuntil they go down.
Recommended Characters And Echoes
While the Tempest Mephis is fast, theamount of counter-attack opportunitiesyou getmake it easierthan someother Overlord class bosses like the Crownless, and even without knocking its Vibration Strength down, theboss takes plenty of regular damage.
For supporting characters,BaizhiorVerinaareexcellent options for healingand canhelp keep your characters aliveif you end up getting hit by too many of the boss' combos, and if you justwant to go for more offense while also shieldingsome damage,Jingxincan do bothat the same time.
Avoid bringing Electro userslike Yuanwu andCalcharoto this fight, as theboss has high Electro resistand won’t take much damage from them.
Taoqi can help you do good damage and canboth heal herself and reduce damage taken for any character, and entirely DPS characters likeLingyang, Spectro Rover, or Jiyanwork great atconstantly doing damageto the boss.
As for Echoes, since theTempest Mephis tends to keep nearyou, any close-range Echoes that do damage, like theChase Razor or Havoc Dreadmaneare great for extra damage. If you need more defensive options,Stonewall Bracer or Bell-bourne Geocheloneare great for theshields they provide, and theCruisewing can give you some extra healingif you need it.
Tempest Mephis Rewards
Each time you beat Tempest Mephis, you canspend 60 Waveplatestoget your rewards from the glowing flowerthat appears in the middle of the Tacet Discord, and you’llrecieve Union EXP,Intimacy Points, Shell Credit, andEXP Itemsdepending on your SOL3 Phase.
Once youreach SOL3 Phase Three or above, the Tempest Mephis will alsostart dropping Hidden Thunder Tacet Cores, which is anAscension Material used for certain Electro characterssuch as Yuanwu, and it willdrop one or two of them per battle.
Bosses like Tempest Mephis willrespawn after a few minutes have passedif you stay in the area, and don’t need to be resummoned, sobe careful if you go AFKnear one.
Alongside the different EXP and item rewards, you also have afairly high chanceof being able toabsorb a Tempest Mephis Echoafter beating the fight.
This Echo willscale according to your Data Bank level, but it willtend to be of a higher rarity, and thereisn’t a limit to how many of these Echoes you may obtainper day.
