The many maps ofPax Deican be a little frustrating to navigate because of how steep the topography can get and how confusing the forests can be. Luckily, you can create custom Waypoints and map markers that you can route to while exploring. This makes finding your way home so much easier.

While you can’t teleport in Pax Dei, you can create custom markers on the map to then route you back home or to any other location you want to return to. You can use the wind’s guidance to create a trail back to these points for you to follow whenever you are lost.

What Are Waypoints?

Waypoints arespecial map-markersthat you may create to help guide you back to your home plot or other custom monuments. Some Waypoints come pre-made and can be found on the world map. These include the variousPetra Dei Shrineslittered throughout the landscape.

You can choose one of the Petra Dei shrines as yourhome spawnwhen you decide to settle down somewhere on the map. You willrespawn at this shrineafter each death.

How To Create Waypoints From Your Plots

To create a Waypoint from your plots,use the hammerto open the build menu. Once you are in the build menu,select the ‘Plots’ taband select one of your home plots.

On the right side of your Plot screen you will find the’Release Plot' and ‘Set Waypoint’buttons. By selecting the’Create Waypoint’button, you will assign your plot as a Waypoint on your map. Doing so will allow you toroute to these Waypointswhenever you are lost.

You canassign your plotsas Waypointsfrom any locationon the map.

How To Create Custom Waypoints

If you want to create a custom Waypoint that isn’t your home plot, you can open the map and use theControl Key and Left Mouse Button (Ctrl + LMB)at the same time to set a Waypoint on your map.

Youcan only have one Waypointon your map at a time. You can move your Waypoints whenever you please.

You can also place Waypoints over top of existing map markers.

If you want to guide to your home shrine, open your map and use the above controls tomark it as a Waypoint. This will allow you to guide yourself to the home shrine usingGuiding Wind, without having to die and respawn there.

Other Custom Markers

If you don’t want to make a Waypoint, but you would like tomark a location, resource, or settlementon your map, you can enter the map screen and use theControl and Right Mouse Button keys (Ctrl + RMB)to assign markers to these locations.

Youcannotuse Guiding Wind toroute to custom map markers. You can only use Guiding Wind to route to Waypoints.

There areseveral symbolsto choose from when assigning markers to your map, and you can create a key of marker types to indicate what resource you are highlighting on your map.

If you find a particularlyresource-dense spot, try marking it on your map with one of the custom map markers. This will make it easier for you to return to these resources the next time you run out.

How To Route To A Waypoint

If you want to get home faster, or you are struggling to remember what path you traveled away from your home plot, you can use theguidance of the wind to rerouteyou home.

To do this,press the ‘G’ keyon your keyboard. This willactivate the Guiding Wind abilityand create a series of blue lights in the sky, illuminating themost direct routeto the Waypoint on your map.

Guiding Winddoes nottake into effectmap topography, it only gives you the most direct route to your Waypoint. You may find yourself routed to the base of unscalable mountains or through dangerous terrain.

You alsocannotuse Guiding Wind to route to custom map markers. You canonlyroute to Waypoints and you canonly have oneWaypoint on your map at a time.

Pressing ‘G’when your cursor is pointed at an interactable object willzoom inon that object for a close-up view. If you want to toggle Guiding Wind, ensure your cursor isnot directed at an objectyou can interact with, such as a resource node or crafting station.
