As a way to get items and equipment inFinal Fantasy 14, gathering resources on your own and using them to craft is the time-consuming but far more economical method when compared to buying things on the Market Board. It saves you gil and is also a fun way to spend time that doesn’t involve questing or slaying monsters.
Miner is one of the three gathering classes and perhaps the most lucrative - there’s always demand for ores and metal, ingots and crystals - they’re incredibly common crafting materials for the best weapons and armour sets you can make yourself.

Levels 1 - 60
When you first set out as a freshly qualified Miner, the levels will come thick and fast. Simplyventuring out to low-level areas and mining at gather pointswill get you enough experience to get a feel for the job. The methods you can use to level through this range are listed below, from most to least efficient.
Since Job Quests are all but absolutely mandatory, thanks to theuseful gearthey provide and the skills they unlock, it may be worth acquiring the items you need to complete them as soon as you’re able. This will cut down on the time they take considerably if you do this in advance:

Obsidian x10
Cinnabar x10

Jade x20
Requires Level 50 and Truth of the Mountains active
This ore is hidden and doesn’t appear in every node
Requires Truth of the Mountains active
Pedal to the Metal
Serpentine x20
Pummelite x5
The Peaks
To make things even quicker, you canpurchase most of these items on the Market Board! You can also use the Market Board to acquire the items required for your Grand Company Provisioning turn-ins. This is especially handy when you haven’t unlocked the areas you’d need to mine in to acquire them.
It is not possible to purchase the items required by the Stormblood quests.
Levels 60 - 90
The reason that levelling above 60 is a separate section is because this is when the best way to level up unlocks:Custom Deliveries. Every Tuesday, you’ll gain12 Allowancesthat can be used to deliver collectables. These specific collectables will provide you with a huge bounty of experience.
For the best results, make sure you’reonly delivering collectables with the highest possible Collectability. This ensures that you not only get the most experience, but the mostScrips.
When you have run out of Custom Delivery Allowances, your next stop should beLevequests. In comparison to the Levequests available from levels one through 50, those you can take on from Heavensward onwards will provide you with a very large amount of experience in relation to how much time they take.
You can take on the relevant Levequests at the locations below:
50-59
60-69
70-79
80-89
Grigge - Old Sharlayan
While Custom Deliveries are the way to go and Levequests help, you also have two other methods to keep in mind:
Gearing While Levelling
In this day and age, gearing up a gatherer is actually quite simple.
Gearing
1 - 59
During this period, you should have enough goodequipment from your Miner queststhat you shouldn’t need to buy anything else. Make sure you’re alwaysequipping the best Pickaxes and Sledgehammersavailable to you, and you shouldn’t have to worry.
If you level upBotanistand possiblyFisherat the same time and complete their quests simultaneously, you should have a fuller set of gathering gear that’s equitable to your level, making everything smoother.
60 - 69
Once you unlockCollectables, Scrips, and Custom Deliveries, you should work on acquiring Scrip gear. The most efficient way to do this while levelling is to get a full set ofTrailblazer’s equipment(Level 58 gear that will cost you 410 White Gatherer Scrips) and anAugmented Minekeep’s Pickaxe and Augmented Minekeep’s Sledgehammer(250 White Gatherer Scrips each). This will last you until Level 70 easily.
70 - 79
Once you hit Level 70, you can access Scrip traders who sell theLandking set. Make sure you’re purchasing the Level 350 gear, not the Level 330 gear, which also unlocks at Level 70.
80 - 89
Once you hit Level 80, you’re able to access Scrip traders who sell theLandsaint set. Make sure you’re purchasing the Level 500 gear, not the Level 440 or Level 470 gear, which also unlocks at Level 80.
90
Upon hitting Level 90, you’ll be able to obtainPurple Gatherer Scripsin addition to the regular White ones. These come from the hardest Collectables to get but can also be acquired by turning in Custom Deliveries with any Level 90 gatherer class.
Use these to get the Item Level 620Natural Afflatus set, which will serve you well until you reach Dawntrail.
