Summary
InFallout Shelteryou’ll recruit many inhabitants into your vault, who are all interested in making the most out of their lives while safe under the ground. However, your power, food, and water are not the only resources you will have to manage to create a successful vault.
One of the most important aspects of Fallout Shelter is making sure that all of your citizens are happy, as their happiness will make it easier to generate extra resources. If you want to learn about how to make your residents happier, check out these tips.

8Power Your Vault
Before you’re able to tackle other ways to boost your inhabitants' happiness, you’ll first have to focus on ensuring that your entire vault is functioning correctly. One of the most important resources in the game is power, as every other room in your vault will require electricity to produce products or house your citizens.
If you happen to lose power while your dwellers are working or enjoying their lives, then their happiness will continually decrease the longer the power is out. To verify that your vault always stays powered, construct enough Power Generators and Nuclear Reactors, and employ dwellers with high strength to work in these rooms.

Game Room
Luck
Similar to other Fallout games, the SPECIAL system determines the attributes of every dweller in your vault, making them more efficient at specific tasks. By crafting many different kinds ofTraining Rooms, you can train specific dwellers toincrease their attributes, such as building a classroom to increase intelligence.
On top of providing improvements to your SPECIAL stats, correctly assigning your dwellers to their favorite training rooms can help reduce boredom and boost happiness. For example, assigning a dweller with a high strength stat to a weight room will not only boost their strength, but also provide a bit of happiness to the dweller.

6Heal Dwellers With Medicine
Exploring the wasteland can be difficult and dangerous, so it is no surprise that dwellers can return to your vault seriously injured or suffering from radiation sickness. Your vault can also get attacked by raiders, causing enemies to pour in and hurt your citizens.
Whenever a dweller has suffered damage or is injured, their happiness will severely decrease untilthey are healed.Make sure that you build a Medbay and store ample amounts of RadAway to cure radiation sickness, and Stimpaks to heal any fatal wounds, and your happiness will return in no time.

5Complete Rushes
All the Production Rooms in your Vault use the Rushing mechanic, where you attempt to expedite a chosen room’s production at the risk of failure. To complete a rush without failure, you will want to assign the correct dwellers to the space, meaning you should match their SPECIAL stat to the production room.
Completing a Rush will boost the happiness of all dwellers in the room by ten percent, while also giving you all the extra resources that were made during the Rush. Keep in mind that Rushing a room can always turn awry, causinga random incidentto occur that could threaten your inhabitants' safety and decrease the dwellers' happiness by ten percent.

4Give Dwellers Downtime
When your civilians are not working, they will want to relax with other dwellers in the vault, which is a fantastic way of increasing happiness. Specifically, you will want to craft multiple Living Rooms, since dwellers will enjoy spending time with the opposite sex in these areas.
If any of your civilians happen to be in a living room without a member of the opposite sex, then their happiness can be raised by a maximum of 75 percent. However, having the opposite sex together in a room willencourage your dwellers to procreate, and increase their happiness fully.

Similar to Training Rooms, the Production Rooms in your vault also require dwellers that have specific SPECIAL stats. By placing a dweller in a production room that matches their highest SPECIAL stat, that dweller will continually gain happiness while working.
These correct placements will increase happiness and allow your dwellers to maximize their production outputs, making the vault run even better. For example, a dweller who has high strength will love working in a Power Generator and will gain happiness, which will in turn increase the amount of electricity they produce for the entire community.

2Build A Radio Studio
While assigning your dwellers to their favored jobs will generate happiness for that specific resident, building a Radio Studio will help you collectively boost your vault’s happiness. By assigning a dweller with high charisma to the Radio Studio, everyone’s happiness across the entire vault will be greatly increased.
The amount of happiness that everyone in your vault earns from the Radio Studio is affected by the charisma of the dweller currently working there, so you should always place your most charismatic residents here. Even if you don’t have a dweller with high charisma, assigning a random civilian to the Radio Studio will still generate a small amount of happiness.

1Provide Ample Resources
Nothing will make your inhabitants more unhappy thana lack of food and water,as they are the two necessary resources that everyone needs for survival. Without a consistent supply of these two resources, your dwellers will never be able to reach maximum happiness, so it is important to always keep a surplus available.
To generate food and water, you should construct Water Purification rooms, while Gardens will help you cultivate plants for survival. As always, your dwellers can also explore the wasteland to collect these resources, just in case your facilities are not running correctly.
