Melinoe inHades 2is a witch who uses various incantations to bolster her resolve about killing Chronos. While concocting various incantations helps her receive active and passive support during the runs, you need valuable items such as Cattail to unlock various incantations.
Cattail is one of the rare items that cannot be obtained by killing enemies, bosses or clearing various encounters in the game. Like wheat, you will need seeds to cultivate this plant and amass a plentiful supply in order to unlock mid-to-late game incantations. This guide gives you a quick rundown of how to get Cattail seeds and how to use them in the game.

How To Get Cattail
Similar to Nighshade,to get Cattail you will need to acquire Cattail seedsfirst. These seeds must bedug up using the Silver Spade tool on the Oceanus biome, which you can reach afterbeating Headmistress Hecate.
Thedig spots are randomand can pop up during your runs in the game. However, you canonly interact with them if you have unlocked the Silver Spade.
Unlocking Flourishing Soil Incantation
Afteracquiring a few Cattail seeds, the next step involvesgetting soil plots to plant the seeds. For this, head to the Crossroads andinteract with the Cauldron to unlock the Flourishing Soil incantation. This onlyrequires one Molly item, which you will often find during your runs in the game.
You willget two soil plots after unlocking the Flourishing Soil incantation, and theseappear near Odysseus, the Veteran Tactician. Interact with any soil plot and select the Cattail seed to plant it.
Once you’vecompleted nine encounters, theCattail plant will grant you one Cattail item.
How To Use Cattail
Cattail items can be used to unlock some of the support incantationsin the game. For example, you can unlock theSurge of the Stygian Wells incantation, which makes aWell of Charon appear as you transition between the Underworld Regions.
TheWell of Charon contains random valuable supplies. Some of these can give youlost health back, offerbone items for sale, orprovide a powerful boonthat remains active for the next few encounters.
If you happen to have plenty of Cattail items, then you can alsosell these at the Wretched Broker. He will offer you12 bones in exchange for one Cattail item.
