The ruined forges inElden Ringare brand-new miniature-sized dungeons, which players are at liberty to explore in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. While the lack of boss battles sets them apart from the other dungeons that you might otherwise be accustomed to, they’re still worth diving into, for they are home to unique treasures.

One such forge, Tawley’s Ruined Forge, is tucked away in the northern part of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC map. Its elusive location challenges even the most seasoned explorers, but this guide is here to lend a helping hand in both finding and completing it.

How To Find The Taylew’s Ruined Forge

The Taylew’s Ruined Forge islocated in the Rauh Base region, at theend of the road north of the Ancient Ruins Base Site of Grace, which is patrolled by a squadron of Messmmer’s soldiers and some Misbegotten.

Just before you reach the entrance, a Teardrop Scarab hanging on the wall of a ruined pillar will give you theScattershot Throw Ash of War.

How To Reach Rauh Base

The problem, however, is finding the Rauh Base area, and that’s only saying if you’ve reached theScadu Altus region in the first place.

Normally, you will get to the expansive plateau aftercompleting Castle Ensisanddefeating Rellana. However, there’s a way to skip the castle without stepping foot inside by using aspiritspring jump in the Gravesite Plain, which will take you straight toFort of Reprimandin Scadu Altus.

Once in Scadu Altus, you will want totravel north from the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace,as shown in the video, passing a small cavewith a Queen Marika Statue that leads into apoison swamp. From there, keep heading northwest, and you willenter Rauh Base.

How To Complete The Taylew’s Ruined Forge

Navigating Taylew’s Ruined Forge is pretty straightforward, but there are a few treasures so well hidden that even the sharpest eyes might miss.

While there’s no boss fight in Taylew’s Ruined Forge, thegolem smithsthat dwell insideshould not be taken lightly, as they can be a bit tricky to kill.

They are sturdy foes thattake very little damage, but theexposed gemstoneon their back is aweak spot. A charged heavy attack or two to that area will almost always stagger them.

Upon activating the Taylew’s Ruined Forge Site of Grace, head down the slopeto reach a balcony where you can find aShadow Realm Rune [3]. Then work your way to the main chamber through the stairs. Before you proceed, ensure you read the message on the floor for helpful tips on dealing with the golems.

Be wary of a magma slimethat will attempt to catch you off-guard by falling from the ceiling. Once you’ve dispatched it,take the ladder downand enter the next chamber by descending the stairs.

In this area, you will first want tohead through the corridorat the back across the collapsed floor to enter a room where you’re able to get aGas Stone, aSmithing Stone [1], aSmithing Stone [4]and theSmithscript Axefrom the corpse hidden in the corner.

Be mindful of a golem smiththat will greet you with a body slam as soon as you emerge inside this room.

After that, you can return to the main area, and this time, drop down from the collapsed sectionto the floor below. After grabbing more loot, you canjump onto the large metal pipein the center of the forge.

Before you can scale it to the upper section, though, leap over to the opposite platformfor additional loot, and most importantly, theSmithscript Greathammer, which is guarded by a magma slime in the corner. After ransacking the area, you can go up the metal pipe, where you will be able to jump over to two platforms on each side.

Clear the platform on the left first, as it circles back to the pipe, but be cautious of the two golem smiths that eagerly await you, and will overwhelm you. Grab all the loot you can find here, including aSomber Smithing Stone [6]and anAncient Dragon Smithing Stonefrom the balcony to the southwest, and then skedaddle back to the metal pipe.

Feel free to jump down from the metal bridge to the east to get a few Smithing Stones, but it’s not worth the trouble as a smattering of magma slime will fall from above, and even worse, the golems from before will catch up to you if you haven’t killed them.

Once you’re on the other platform, head down the stairson the right, where you can loot aSomber Smithing Stone [8]from a corpse and some regular low-tier upgrade stones embedded in the ground.

After that, return to the previous area and make your way to the next room through the corridor on the south.A golem can be seen petting a Magma Slime(how cute!), butdon’t disturb them, as this floor has little of interest besides some smithing stones.

Instead, make your way up to the raised platformusing the slope on the right where you can find theSmithscript Shieldon a corpse, some more Smithing Stones (if you want to), and acauldron donning golemthat canspawn lava slimes.

Once you’ve grabbed the important piece of loot, you canjump down to a hallway from the railing. A corpse resting on the wall will net you aSomber Smithing Stone [8], andto your left will be a ladderthat will take you to the next area.

Soon after reaching the top, you will have todeal with two slimesthat drop from the ceiling. The more annoying threats, however, are aslime and golemstationed on a platform opposite the ladder, equipped with deadly ranged attacks, but they will start attacking only if you alert them.

And if the corpse on the other side entices you, feel free to jump over to it.It holds aSomber Smithing Stone [3].

To press onward, head through the staircase to the north. Past it, you will reach aroom with a lever. When you interact with it, theslanted metal pipe tilts, causing the lower end to rise and other end to descend into the lava.

From here on, you’re in the final stretch of Taylew’s Ruined Forge, and you only need to sprint up the metal pipe in the center that just flipped upside down to complete the dungeon.

To the left of the Lever, you will be able todrop twice to the level below. From there, proceed west to the back of the areapast some stairs and a slope. Thenface the hole in the wall to the northand carefullyhop onto the chained supportwelded to the pipe.

We recommend you equip a Sacrificial Twig in case you fail to land on the pipe and fall into the lava and don’t want to lose your Runes upon death. The trick is to land on the extended portion of the pipe, and in case you do happen to die, you will be able to jump onto it easily from the area with the collapsed floor.

Running up the pipe will lead you back to the starting area, but you canhop off to the platform on the left, where you’re able to climb a ladder. At the top, you will find the dungeon’s forge itself. Inspecting it will get you anAncient Dragon Smithing Stone and the Spirit Ash:Taylew the Golem Smith.

Because Taylew the Golem Smith is an absolute tank of a unit that can withstand a ton of damage, this is a must-have summon for glass cannon builds.

With that, theTaylew’s Ruined Forge dungeon is done and dusted, and you may then warp back to its entrance using the portal next to the forge.
