Quick Links
Fiber is required for a lot of different crafting recipes inASKA, from your simple tools to more complex crafting materials like Rope, which you’ll need to build most of the structures in the game. The most straightforward way to gather Fiber is to harvestFlax- you get five Fiber per Flax plant.
However, Flax plants require you to venture out and harvest them yourself - or from your Gatherer’s Hut via your NPCs - and you’ll likely also need to break downBarkandThatchto get Fiber as well. This guide covers every method of how to get Fiber in ASKA.

Fiber can be found from:
Flax Plants
These are pretty easy to spot in the dense foliage, thanks to theirbright white flowers. Each plant will givefive Fiberwhen harvested, which is enough to start working on your first set of tools - axe, pickaxe, and so on.
Hitting ‘Z’ on your keyboard will also highlight Flax plants.
Breaking Down Thatch And Bark
This isn’t made immediately obvious in the game, but you canHarvestThatch and Bark in your inventory. Simply hover over the item and hold downShiftandLeft Click. Thatch and Bark yields around 2–3 pieces of Fiber per item.
Thatch is found incoastal areaswhen you harvestReeds. There will be plenty of this when you first spawn, so grab it all, then harvest the Fibers from your inventory screen.

Defeating Wisps
Wisps are a low-level enemy found along the coastline where your ship originally lands in ASKA. You can defeat them by just punching them (and they will drop two or three pieces of Fiber), or you can craft an axe or wooden hammer to deal more damage to them.
Setting Up Crafting Priority At Your Woodcutter’s Hut
Your NPCs can also gather and craft Fiber via yourWoodcutter’s and Gatherer’s Huts.
At the Woodcutter, you can set the priority for Bark and Fiber tohigh. This will mean that your Woodcutters will spend time breaking down Bark into Fiber before hauling sticks, long sticks, and firewood.

Likewise, at the Gatherer’s Hut you can prioritize the collection of Flax so that your NPCs will first hunt down any Flax plants in the area.
Don’t forget to construct Markers to expand the workable area of your NPCs for each respective hut.
