You’ll begin yourLorelei And The Laser Eyesadventure on a road in the forest. From there, you’ll find a number of locked buildings and blocked-off locations. If you are just starting your adventure, you may be a touch overwhelmed, and a little confused. This guide will provide you with quick answers if you run into any snags along the way.
There are two primary obstacles ahead of you: the front gate blocking off the entrance of the hotel, and the hotel’s locked front door. We’ll help you work through all of that and more in this step-by-step walkthrough.
Starting At The Car
From the car, you’re going to want to open it andcheck the glove compartment.Read every document (includingthe manual) so that you can add it to your memory bank. Also,investigate the map next to your car.From there, head down the path. On your right, there will be a gated-off mausoleum. On the left, you’ll find a looping path that runs along a locked caravan. You will not be able to unlock either until later in the game.
You will be able to grab a dollar on that looping path. Just hug the southern edge and you should find a hidden path.A red arrow marks this path on the map.
So, head north on the path until you cross over a small bridge and encounter a gate. Go take the note from the dog. It says to “find the year”. Head to the gatehouse left of the front gate. It is locked and needs a four-digit code. So,check the Letter signed “R. Nero”, July 06, 2025 - which you got from your glove compartment. The letter mentions that you’ll be arriving “next year”.Enter 1963 into the lockand enter the shack.
In The Gatehouse
You can use the computer located inside the Guard Shack to save your progress. Lorelei and the Laser Eyes doesn’t have an autosave function, so go ahead and do that.
First thing first, grab the Game Boy-looking Byte Seyes Gaming System in the southeast corner of the room. Then read the note on the corkboard in the northwest corner. The note mentions the journey starting “116 years back in time”. So, if you subtract 116 from 1963, you get1847.Enter that code into the electric box lock in the northeast corner of the room.
Inside the electrical box, you’ll see two nobs and a switch.You need to get the three numbers to add up to 2014.Unfortunately, the numbers appear to change with every playthrough.So, this is a bit of arithmetic that you are going to have to perform yourself. Once you have pushed the button, the gates will open, and you can enter the area in front of the hotel.
The Hotel Entrance
There is a reasonable amount going on here. This includes four statues (labeled the artist, creator, dreamer, and magician), a fountain, and a wandering dog. There is also a door near the bench in the northwest corner of the courtyard. You won’t need to interact with any of them right now (though there is no harm in giving the dog a pet). Instead,head to the southwest corner and enter the other side of the gatehouse.
There are two more American Dollars found here. There is one next to the bench in the northwest corner, and another in the vase next to the statue to your right in the courtyard.
You will see a monitor. Interact with it andturn the knob left and right until the picture is as clear as you can get it, then dial it in with the knob beside it.You’ll see a man with a top hat standing in front of a bench. That bench is just outside the hotel gate, next to the other side of the gatehouse, so head back there.
There is a locked door that leads directly to the other side of the gatehouse. Unfortunately, the password will change every playthrough. So, you will need to wait until you get S.C. Bolt’s Number Puzzles Volume 1 before you’ll be able to open this door up.
Once you reach the bench, you’ll find that the man has left, but that his hat remains. Inside his hat is a calling card, take a look at it (you’ll need it later). Now, head straight for the front entrance. The door will be locked, but the pin pad beside it will have some conspicuous red paint on it. The amount of drops corresponds with the order in which you need to press the keys.This should make the passcode 1847. You will now be able to enter the hotel.
