There are plenty of creatures for you to take care of and love inThe Sims 4, from cats and dogs to horses and chickens. But, one of the smallest of creatures you can keep is the bees that are included with the Seasons expansion.
Beekeeping can be incredibly rewarding if you play your cards right, including having an army of bees at your disposal to attack your enemies. To get to that point, though, you need to take good care of your busy friends. Once you know how to keep bees successfully, you’ll be a pro in no time.

How To Start Beekeeping
you’re able to begin beekeeping bypurchasing Bertie’s Bee Boxwhich you can find underOutdoors > Outdoors Activities. It can be purchased for 265 Simoleons. Place the Bee Box anywhere outside, and you’re ready to begin your Sim’s beekeeping journey to get lots of honey and plenty of help for your garden.
When you first begin, you will not be able to do much with the bees. You need to build a strong relationship with them before you can reap the benefits. When youhover over the Bee Box, you can see your Sim’s relationship with themsimilar to how you can with other Sims.

You’ll also see the hive’s honey amount, their activity level, and grumpiness. If the bees are well taken care of and close to your Sim, then you’ll haveplenty of honey, and they’ll be in a good mood. Ignore them for too long, and the bees will get mad.
To begin building a relationship with the bees, you need to click on the box and chooseBond with Bees. Note that you will have to do thiswithout the Beekeeper suit onto build a relationship. If you want to put the suit on anyway, click on the Bee Box and chooseChange into Beekeeper suit. However, you won’t be able to bond with them.

Although you need to go without the Beekeeper suit to bond with your bees, your Sim can get stung. Luckily, the only effect this has is a negative moodlet that lasts for two hours in-game. Plus, the more you bond with your bees, the less likely you are to be stung.
Bonding With Bees
As you continue beekeeping, you’ll unlock more interactions that you can have with the Bee Box. While you start out with just the Bond with Bees action, you can keep going to get more. Once you reach a certain amount, you’ll unlockCollect Swarm.
This will letyou keep a swarm of bees in your Sim’s inventoryfor around five to six Sim hours. You can use these swarms to locate items for you by clicking on the swarm in your inventory and choosingSend to Fetch Gift. You can alsocheer up your Simwith the swarm, or ask them topollinate nearby plants.
Keeping the swarm with you also allows you to use them on other Sims. Click on another Sim and you’re able to choose toeither send a romantic message, cheer up another Sim, or have the swarm attack the Sim.
The swarm will disappear from your Sim’s inventoryafter you use them for an interaction such as attacking another Sim, or sending them away to fetch gifts. If you don’t use the swarm at all, they’ll disappear once their timer is up.
Make sure to also take care of your bees when they areinfested with mites. While this doesn’t happen all the time, occasionally your hive will get infested. You can click on the Bee Box and chooseApplyMite Treatmentfor 15 Simoleons to clear up the infestation. If you don’t treat them, your bees may become enraged.
How To Get Honey From Bees
As you continue to bond with your bees, they will continue toautomatically produce honey for your Sim to collect. You can collect honey from the Bee Box in theSpring, Summer, andFall. In the Winter, your hive will go dormant since it’s too cold for the bees. Simply click on the Bee Box when the honey is ready and clickCollect Honey.
Bees will be most active in the Summer, so you’ll be able to collect the most honey from them during that season.
This honey will have a quality level to it which is tied to how well taken care of your bees are. If your Simhas a close bond with the bees and they are in a good mood, you will get excellent honey. However, if your bees are unhappy, you’ll get honey that’s poor quality.
Honey can be sold directly from your Sim’s inventory or the Bee Box, used in various recipes for cooking and baking, or your Sim can eat the honey directly from their inventory. The higher quality the honey, the better price you’ll get for it or the better quality the recipe will be.
If you decide to have your Sim eat the honey, they’ll get a positive moodlet that willnegate the effects of cold or hot weather. This is great for keeping your Sims out of danger of freezing or overheating.
Bees also can help pollinate your plants. Place the BeeBox five squares away or closerto your garden and your bees will help keep them healthy. Be aware that this is the same radius that your Sim could get stung by the bees if they are in a bad mood, so keep your distance if they’re not happy.
Bees are great helpers to keep on your Sim’s lot for gardening and farming. Just ensure to take good care of them, and they’ll be great pets to have.
