Fuel is one of the main resources that you will need to provide for your villagers inManor Lords. This resource will remain important throughout the duration of the game, you will need to continue providing a fuel source for your villagers no matter what year it is.
During the Winter, your villagers will use double the amount of fuel, which can be taxing if you don’t have much to begin with. Thankfully, we are here to help. In this guide, we are going to go over how to get fuel, as well as some tips for providing fuel to villagers.

Manor Lords is currently in Early Access on Steam and as such, the content is subject to change. We will update these articles as required.
What Is Fuel?
Fuel consists of two materials;firewood and charcoal.Firewood can be gathered right at the start of the game, but to make charcoal, you will need to invest in the related development point.
Fuel is used to power buildings, which means that if your town is larger, you will need to use more fuel. When clicking on a building or burgage plot, you may see if a building requires fuel by looking at the General tab.If there is afirepit icon, then you will need to provide fuel for this building.

If there is fuel, then agreen checkmarkwill appear, denoting that the building is good to go. You can alsoset a fuel reserve for some buildings (not burgage plots though),which means that the building willstore excess fuel to burnafter running out of the current fuel.
How To Get Firewood
When assigned here, workers will gather firewoodas well as head to the nearby market (if one is placed) to sell firewood.
To build up a hefty supply of firewood for the winter (or just in general), we recommendassigning multiple families to a Woodcutter’s Lodge.you’re able to also build more if necessary.

How To Get Charcoal
By unlocking theCharcoal Burning development point(found on the left side of the bottom branch), you will be able to make charcoal. This is a very efficient fuel that willturn one firewood into two charcoal.Just one charcoal is not necessarily better than one firewood, but one firewood can be converted into two charcoal, making it twice as efficient.
Having a problem producing or selling charcoal?Consider pausing production on your Woodcutter’s Lodgeand continuing production for your Charcoal Kiln for a bit (granted you have enough firewood built up). Additionally, we recommendassigning more than one family to the Charcoal Kiln.
How To Sell Fuel At The Marketplace
Firewood and charcoal will automatically besold at the marketplace by works that you have assigned to the Woodcutter’s Lodge and Charcoal Kiln.
When you click on the marketplace (not an individual stall), you canhover over ‘Fuel’ to see how it’s distributed to burgage plots. If you don’t have enough fuel, we suggest either building a new marketplace or increasing your production.
With the Foreign Suppliers development point unlocked, you will also be able tomanually place a firewood cart. This will passively provide firewood if you have enough regional wealth. Rather than buying firewood from the Trading Post, you can get it here without the transport fee.
If you have enough firewood/charcoal, but struggle to provide enough for burgage plots, consider assigning a worker to the Storehouse(if there already is one, consider assigning another). These workers distribute items at the marketplace as well, providing more fuel.
