Hades 2is a game all about gradually getting stronger. Melinoe can invest her knowledge and resources into progression, allowing her to push further each time she attempts to push into the underworld. Incantations, weapon upgrades, and Arcanas - all require some heavy investment if you’re going to come out on top.

One item that you’ll need to collect is the humble Cinders; flickering flames that are used mostly with Incantations dealing with fire and preservation. But how does one acquire Cinders? Well, your mentor, Headmistress Hecate, may know exactly where to get your hands on some. You’ll just need to drag the information out of her, one way or another.

How To Make It Through Erebus

Before you can make it to Hecate, you’ll first need tofight your way through Erebus. At first, with precious few upgrades, this can be quite challenging.

The important thing is tofocus on survival and attack avoidance over offence- spend the first hours of the game learning how and when to use Melinoe’sdodge and sprint abilities, how to deal witharmoured enemies, and gathering whatresources you’re able to to obtain tools, new weapons, and some Arcana cards.

Themini-bossesthat Erebus has to offer can be quite difficult without certain upgrades, so consideravoidingthem while your mission is to retrieve some Cinders.

In general, err towards gettingBoonsand encounters withArachne- these will shore up your abilities for this current run, rather than providing resources like Ash or Psyche, which are more useful in the long run.

Once you reach the end of Erebus, thefinal dooryou go through will haveCindersas the icon. This signifies that going through the door will pit you against Hecate.
