With the launch ofFinal Fantasy 14’s Dawntrail expansion,Fashion Accessories have changedand Spectacles have become their very own thing: Facewear. If you already own some spectacles and you log in to Dawntrail expecting to be able to use them straight away, you’ll be mistaken.

Trying to click the Facewear option via the Character menu will say you haven’t unlocked this feature yet. So for those of you wondering where your beloved Spectacles have gone, or those of you looking to get some for the first time, here’s everything you need to know.

How To Unlock Facewear

Much like Fashion Accessories, to unlock the Facewear featureyou simply need to obtain some Facewear, which can be purchased from various NPCs and the Marketboard. We cover this further down.

Facewear Spectacles will be called ‘The Faces We Wear’ followed by the specific item name. For example, the old Rose-colored Spectacles are now The Faces We Wear - Rose-colored Spectacles.

Where the confusion comes in is for players who already owned the Spectacles before the change happened.

How To Make Your Old Spectacles Into Facewear

Your Spectacles are gone from your Fashion Accessories menu but fear not, you can still make them Facewear.Visit any Calamity Salvagerand choose’Spectacles Exchange’to convert them to Facewear.

Now you’ll have access to them in the Facewear menu!

Where To Get Facewear

The previous places you could get Spectacles are still viable (though they’re now The Faces We Wear versions and have had some name tweaks) and a bunch of new Facewear was added with the launch of Dawntrail. Here’s where to get some Facewear.

Purchase from theGold Saucer AttendantinThe Gold Saucerat(X:5.1, Y:6.6)for 100,000 MGP.

The Faces We Wear - Shaded Spectacles(Previously False Shaded Spectacles)

It was available as areward from Series 1 of Crystalline Conflict.

If you own this, you can speak to the Calamity Salvager to collect the Facewear version.

Possible reward from theCenote Ja Ja Gural Treasure Dungeon.

Available on the Market Board.

How To Use Facewear

You can access the Facewear menu by eitherclicking the Facewear icon from your Character equipment windowor byselecting ‘Facewear’ from the main Character menu.

Any Facewear you have unlocked/purchased will be available here and you can choose which to equip andeach has a selection of 12 different colours to choose from.
