Dragon’s Dogma 2features a massive open world where you are free to roam on foot or fast travel to distant places in search of new adventures and monsters. Most of the game’s exploration ventures reward you with unique loot and some will unlock rare achievements or trophies.
Medusa is one of the game’s bosses that you will need to fight. There are several ways to kill this boss, one of which involvesobtaining Medusa’s headby severing it from the body. you may also kill Medusa by turning her into stone and this will also unlock a rare trophy in the game.
How To Unlock An Eye For An Eye Trophy/Achievement
The only way to unlock the Eye for an Eye achievement or trophyin the game is toturn Medusa into stone. This is possible if youreflect the petrifying gaze back at her. However, you need a specialized shield that reflects the light, and in this case, Medusa’s gaze.
The fastest way toacquire this shield is by venturing into Vernworth castleand reaching thesecret vault room. This room contains several chests with unique loot items andone of these chests contains the Daughter of the Evening Shield.
How To Get The Daughter Of The Evening Shield?
The secret vault room is at the west end of the castle. The easiest way to reach the secret vault roominside the Vernworth castle isby approaching the Venrworth castle dining hallentrance.
This entrance is found on thewest of the main castle entrance, near the gardens. Once you are inside,go to the room on the leftthrough a small doorto access the kitchen. Thedoor on the right will lead you to a hallwayand to the left will bestairs that will end at the secret vault roomof Vernworth castle.
Aguard will always be posted at the doorthat will give you a warning to turn back every time you approach the door. To get access to the secret vault room without the key, you need to distract the guard.
To distract the guard, you need tothrow an item at the guard from a distance, and it will come chasing you. The easiest way is to go back to the kitchen and get a barrel. Throw this item at guard, and it will try to catch you.
After that,press the grab button and take the guardup the stairs.Run back again,and you will be able to access the secret vault room in Verworth without any key. The chest in front of you contains the Daughter of the Evening Shield.
Before you go to Medusa’s lair, make sure youchange the vocationto Fighterto be able to equip the Daughter of the Evening Shield.
How To Petrify Medusa
After reaching Medusa’s lair, found in the southwest of Bakbattahl,initiate the “Wait” command, and yourteammates will stay in a fixed spot. Attack Medusa and lure her away from your teammates. Eventually, she will try toattack you with her petrify-gaze attack, which is evident from thered spotlight.
You need topress the “Defend” buttonand the character will raise the shield. This willreflect all the spotlight petrifying gaze back at Medusa, turning her into stone in a few seconds.
Once theMedusa has been turned into stone, you will see an"Eye for an Eye" achievement or trophy unlock notificationon your Steam, Xbox, or PlayStation platform.
How To Find Medusa
TheNera’Battahl Windrift is the region found in the southwestof Bakbattahl. Thecave here has a guaranteed spawn location for Medusathat you may visit and kill her.
If you have beaten Medusa already and want to redo the boss fight,go back to the Bakbattahl and sit on a bench.Keep pressing the “Doze off"button on your controller or keyboard andpass at least seven to ten daysthis way.
After that,pause the game, and thensave the game to the title screen. Load your save file and thengo back to the Nera’Battahl Windrift caveand you willfind Medusa spawnedagain in your game.
How To Preserve Medusa Head
Successfullyacquiring the Preserved Head of Medusa will unlock the “Getting a Head” trophy/achievement. This will only become possible if you sever Medusa’s head in the first health bar. You mustbring in the highest damaging melee weapons or upgraded onesto deal massive damage quickly andcut off the head.
Ripping her head off in thesecond health bar will give you theMedusa Headitem and, after that, you will get a furtherdeteriorated head called Withered Medusa Head.
The Preserved Headitem will last longer than the other two versions in your inventory. However, if youput any version of the head into the storage box, it willstop rotting,and you’re able to then use the head whenever you see fit or sell it for a hefty price.
