The fifth week ofFinal Fantasy 14’sSecond Hunt For Genesisevent serves up a helping of optional objectives that you can fulfil to get some Tomestones, which can be traded for neat prizes. This week, one objective is to acquire, decipher, and retrieve a treasure from a Timeworn Boarskin Treasure Map.
Treasure Maps aren’t all that common in the grand scheme of things - gatherers will come across them every now and then, and you may see people recruiting fellow treasure hunters in the Party Finder, but it’s easy to let the feature slip you by.
How To Get A Timeworn Boarskin Treasure Map
There are two ways to obtain a Timeworn Boarskin Treasure Map:
Purchasing one from another player outright is the easiest and fastest method, but this will cost youquite a lot of gil. As this event is running, people are snapping up the cheapest maps very quickly andthe price is likely to stay very highfor the next week.
Your best bet, in terms of financial efficiency, is to get one yourself. Of course, you’ll need a gathering class (Miner, Botanist, or Fisher) that can acquire a Level 50 map first. If you don’t have one, you’ll either have to level one up or resort to the market board.
To get the Treasure Map, simply head to anygroup of Level 50 gathering nodesand start mining/chopping away.
you’re able to only acquire asingle Treasure Map per 18 hours, so don’t gather any map that isn’t a Timeworn Boarskin one!
How To Decipher The Map And Find The Treasure
Before you canDecipher a Treasure Map, you’ll need to complete the Level 36 side questTreasures and Tribulations. To start this quest, speak toEaldwine in Eastern La Noscea(X:21.0, Y:21.1). This quest provides you with theDecipherandDigactions.
Once you have Treasure Hunting unlocked and a Boarskin Treasure Map of your very own,Decipher the map.
You’ll be provided with ablurry view of the treasure’s location, as well as a region. Head to the region listed by the treasure map and study the region’s map to find the area that matches the blurry outline provided.
Travel to the pointindicated by the treasure map and use theDig action. If you are in the correct place, aTreasure Chestwill appear.
Upon opening the Treasure Chest, you’ll be attacked! verify you’reequipped with a Job that is at least Level 50 and well-equipped.
Upon defeating the monsters that arrive, you canopen the Treasure Chest(safely, this time!). This will satisfy the requirements to get some Tomestones!
