Not every location you see on the map is easily accessible. Sometimes, you might think you’ve reached a spot, only to discover an underground or upper area you haven’t accessed yet. These are important details to keep in mind when starting the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion inElden Ring.
At first glance, the map looks large, but it’s actually even bigger due to the numerous hidden locations. You won’t always know how to reach these areas because they can be well-concealed. For example, the Jagged Peak is an optional area that can easily be missed since its access point is not immediately obvious.

How To Reach The Jagged Peak
The Jagged Peakis a separate andoptional areain the Realm of Shadow, and it’s easy to miss if you don’t explore thoroughly. This area features one of the hardest optional bosses and a few NPC quests that you might overlook.
If you’ve reached Castle Ensis, fast travel to the Castle Front Site of Grace, located at the castle entrance. From there, head southeast, taking the ascending path. As you progress, you’ll spot a cross from afar on your left, butcontinue upward instead.

Shortly after, you’ll find aSite of Grace called Pillar Path Waypoint. Just nearby, you will hear an NPC speaking to the right of the road, indicating you’re on the right path.
While you can interact with him to start his quest, for now, continue along the path ahead.

Along the way,you will be invaded by an NPC.Defeat it and keep moving forward until youreach a dungeon called the Dragon’s Pit. This dungeon is fairly easy to navigate, but be aware of a seemingly perilous jump. Despite appearances,it is required to jump to progress.
At the bottom, you will have to fight the Ancient Dragon-Man. After defeating him, you’ll finda door in front of you. Open it and follow the path to exit the dungeon and reach the Jagged Peak.
There are two main paths to take from here:
The northeast pathis themain progressionroute of this area, where you’ll encountermultiple dragon bossesand havethe opportunity to continue that previous NPC’s quest.
The south pathleads to theDragon Communion Priestess, who stands next to theGrand Altar of Dragon Communion.
