Nightmare is the hardest material to find in the game. you’re able to venture into the Underworld or the Surface without using this item once. However, upgrading Melinoe’s weapons with Nightmare materials will let you beat Eris and Chronos more easily. This guide explains how to get this resource and what to do with it.
How To Get Nightmares
To acquire Nightmare resources, you mustbeat bosses and complete Testament challenges from The Oath of the Unseen and Testamentsplatform.
Testaments must be enabled firstfrom the platform by doing the following actions:
If, for instance, you find thePolyphemus the CyclopsTestament challenge cardwith one fear level above it, andMelinoe’s Moonstone Axepositioned below it, you need toactivate at least one modifierandequip Melinoe with the specified weaponto trigger the particular Testament. Your reward for defeating this boss will be a Nightmare item.
Buying Nightmare
After you have unlocked the Oath of the Unseen and Testaments,Charon and the Wretched Broker will start selling Nightmareitems at avery high cost.
You need at least1,000 bones to trade one Nightmareitem from theWretched Broker. As for Charon, certain Vows increase the cost of items Charon sells, so we can not put a finger on the fixed price. However,Charon mostly sells a Nightmareitem for about1,300 Gold.

Testaments

Fear Level
Thepurple skull on a boss cardindicates thefear level required to activatea certain Testament. Activating morevows increases the value of fear levels.
Weapon Requirements
Eachboss card specifies a Melinoe’s weaponthat must be equipped to activate a Testament.

Where To Use Nightmares
Touse the Nightmare resources, you must first unlock theAspects of Night and Darkness incantation. This brings up a weapon variation of Nocturnal Arms and Aspect Awakenings (upgrade paths) for each of them in the training room.
Afterunlocking a weapon variation, such as Aspect of Momus, you musthave one Nightmare itemto unlockrank twoof this weapon in the game.
