Having weapons equipped on your squad members is essential to survival in theInfection Free Zone. If your survivor isn’t equipped with a weapon, they will fight against hordes of zombies and undead creatures with just a machete. Survivors who don’t have a proper ranged weapon will die after encountering a few hordes and aren’t helpful while scavenging either.
More often than not, the weapons you find are stored in the headquarters or warehouse storage and need to be equipped for the survivors in your active squads. As a new player, this can be confusing because you cannot change weapons directly. So, here’s the right way to equip weapons in Infection Free Zone.

This is an Early Access game, which means that features and details can change in the future.
How To Equip Weapons
There are two scenarios during which you can equip weapons. Thefirst case is when you find a weapon while scavenging a buildingwith your squad and thesecond is when you want to equip a weapon stored in your headquartersor warehouse storage.
How To Equip Weapons Found During Scavenging
Weapons found during exploration and scavenging buildings with your squad are stored in the"Squad Resources"menu. The weapon stays there until it’s equipped or the squad returns to the HQ.Equipping weapons in this case is relatively easy, and you just need to complete the following steps:
How To Equip Weapons From The HQ And The Warehouse
When your squad brings back the weapons to the Headquarters, they are then stored in the warehouse.Equipping those weapons with your squad members requires a different method. This can also be used to equip weapons found by other squads for a different squad. Just follow these steps:
How To Get Weapons
Weapons are your survivors' lifeline. Without them, your squads would easily be wiped out by infected hordes, and getting enough guns to weapon multiple squads can be quite a challenge. But there’s nothing to worry about, since there are two ways to get enough weapons for your survivors. The first way is by scavenging police stations, while the second way is to produce them directly.
Getting Weapons From Police Stations
Police Stations are buildings that can appear on your map while exploring. They are marked with a white badge icon and have a significant chance of dropping weapons and ammunition during scavenging. The weapons you find from police stations are either equipped by the exploring squad directly or taken back to the HQ to be stored for future use.
Getting Weapons From Production
Finding weapons from police stations depends on your luck, and cannot be considered a reliable source of acquiring them. The alternative is toproduce your own weapons at the base. This process requires more time and resources but would produce weapons regularly for your squads. Follow these steps to start producing gear:
Once you’ve built the arms factory, you may start producing weapons and ammunition at your base using resources like metal andbasic tools.

Once you’ve got weapons for your squad members, the next thing you need to be mindful of is ammunition. Without it, your weapons are useless for your survivors. So, what should you do when your squad runs out of ammo? There’s a simple way to reload weapons in Infection Free Zone to help you keep your guns loaded at all times.
Firstly, you’re able to keeptrack of your squad’s remaining ammunition by hovering over their equipped weapons. Once the weapon runs out of ammo, the icon will turn red. If they have ammo in their “Squad Resources,” it will be refilled immediately, but if they don’t have any spare ammo, you will have to follow these steps to read the weapon:

Once you complete this process, thegun icon should revert to green, and your squad should continue shooting against infected hordes instead of engaging in melee combat.
