In his quest to get back his shell inAnother Crab’s Treasure, Kril managed to secure a pearl for the Duchess' quest, but upon his return to Slacktide, things aren’t quite right. Crabs lay about the castle ruins, dead. Those still alive are corrupted and hostile. Things are broken and ruined everywhere.
The once bright and bustling Fort Slacktide has been changed completely by pollution, but you still have to see the Duchess and complete her task for you. You’ll need to make your way through Fort Slacktide the long way this time, and at the end of it all, you’ll have to face Magista, the Tyrant of Slacktide.

Where To Find Magista
Magista, Tyrant of Slacktide is found inFort Slacktide, but onlyafter you’ve accepted the Duchess' questandretrieved the Pristine Pearlfrom theMoon Caves to the westof the fort.
You’ll also need tovisit the Moonglow Snail and acquire Umami powers.

Once that’s done, return to Castle Slacktide, and you’ll find that not only has the general vibe changed, but themaindoors are shut, and you’ll need tonavigate through its ruins.
Navigating Fort Slacktide
After the conversation and fighting with the guard, follow the path to the leftthat was previously blocked, and get rid of enemies as youavoid the sludge pools.
You’ll face manyLobster enemiesthatfunction similarly to Nephrobut lack his special attacks.

Defeat or go past the first Lobster, climb up the nettingto the top of the walls, anduse your Fishing Line to cross overonto the next section.
There will be two paths andParty Pufferfish blocking the way.Thepath blocked by sand cubesleads to aHeartkelp Pod, and theother leads down to another sectionof the castle withmore Crabs and Lobsters.

If you’re low on health and don’t want to use a Heartkelp Pod yet, find a Banana Peel shelland use itsMunch ability to consume it for HP.
Go down to that inner section, take thepath to the left for a Breadclawpast some Crabs, then go back and take theright path through the opened door to progress.

Grapple up onto the hanging platform, then up to another section of the wall, and you canunlock a Moon Snail Shellpast the Q-Tip Crab in the tower.
If youkeep climbing the netting in the towernext to the Shell, you may pick up aWhelk Stowaway at the top, guarded by another Q-Tip Crab.

Go down thenetting near the shelland follow the path around to thelarge tower with platforms spiraling upit.
Carefullymake your way up the platforms, andwatch out for the Crabswho can knock you off to your death. At the top, you’ll have aComb Craband anotherspiral of platforms to follow up,with one Q-Tip Crab blocking you.
You canbait the Crabs into fallingoff the platforms bywaiting at the edge of a platform under themand letting them attack toward you until they fall.
Once you’re at the top, drop the shortcut reeland thengrapple across into the actual castle. Grab theoyster with a Bloodstar Limbin it, then go down the stairs, out the room, andinto the main hallof the Castle.
You canunlock the main doors for a shortcutback outside, then once you’re ready, head down the hall andinto the Duchess' chambers for a cutscene.
How To Beat Magista, Tyrant Of Slacktide
Magista is likely the third boss you’ll fight. She’s a tough customer with alot of range to her attacksand theability to make it difficult to approachher.
Due to her high damage and movement, the Coconut shellis the bestoption as itsRollout ability is greatfor doing damage and givesyou a quick way to cross the arena.
Corrupted by pollution, she can not onlydo a lot of damagebut can alsoinflict you with one of the first status effectsyou’ll come across:Gunked.
Themajority of her attackswill cause thestatus effect to build up, and it canmake even her weakest attacks do more damageand get you to use up your Heartkelp Pods quickly.
Gunked causes Kril to takeDamage Over Time, receiveslightly increased damage from attacks, andmove slightly slowerfor aroundten seconds.
Sludge Vomit
Medium
Vomits three to four poolsof sludge whilemoving backward. Gettinghit by vomitorwalking in the poolsgenerates Gunked.
Chain Swipe
Uses her ball andchain to sweep the area in front of herin a half-circle.Generates Gunkedif you’re hit by it.
Chain Slam
Long
Slings her ball and chain toward Krilfrom across the room.Generates Gunkedif you’re hit by it andleaves a pool of sludgebehind.
Chain Grab
Winds up then slings her ball and chaintowards Kril and brings him in for an attack.Unblockableandgenerates Gunked.
Chain Swing
Massive
Winds up,thenswings her ball and chain around in a circleacross the roomfor several secondsandgenerates Gunkedif you’re hit by it.
With Magista’s battle, you’ll bemore free to alternate between dodging and blockingher attacks with your shell, but you’ll primarilywant to dodge into most of her attacksjust like with Nephro.
You have both Soda Can shells and thenew Tea Cup shellavailable in the arena, whose skill gives you atemporary boost to attack speed.
For Magista’sClaw Slash or Claw Slam, you’re able to eitherdodge to the side or forwardto avoid and get some damage on her or go ahead andblock with your shellfor the same effect.
In between claw and chain attacks, she’lluse Vomit Sludge every few attacksto attempt to block you off from her, sorun to either sideas she’s doing it toclose the distance and get a few hitsin.
The Way of the Hermit skillSteamline can help you dodgeover the sludge pools, or you canuse the Skewer skillfrom Way of the Predator while running toget in an extra hit.
This time,Magista’s unblockable attackwill be anormal part of her kit, and you’ll need towatch for the audio cueas well since itswind-up is similar to her regular Shain Clam.
If you do get hit by it, you’ll lose about 75 percent of your health andaccumulate a lot of Gunked.
Once Magistaloses half her health, she’ll gain another move, Chain Swing, which has amassive AOE radiusand canstun you into a multi-hit combofrom it.
Magista’sChain Swing is blockableand you candodge through it or out of it. If you may’t afford the shell damage, justrun out of its range.
Keep up with your tactics of dodging and blocking, avoid getting Gunked, andonce Magista is defeated, you not onlyget 2,500 Microplasticsbut yourfirst Adaptation attack: Royal Wave.
