For the studio’s first crack at triple-A development, Shift Up has impressed with its creative creature designs. Each Naytiba inStellar Bladefeels both distinctly alien and rooted in reality, leading to some captivating boss fights. While most enemies are bestial in nature, some take on more humanoid characteristics, like Juggernaut.

Juggernaut is another boss you will encounter on your search for an Alpha Naytiba. While it isn’t the fight you were looking for, that doesn’t make it any less difficult, with the creature wielding a massive hammer. Stay on your toes and pay attention during this fight, or Eve might get turned into a pancake.

How To Defeat Juggernaut

Here are some of the attacks you may expect from Juggernaut:

Blockable?

Hammer Swings

Juggernaut swings its hammer at you many times in wide arcs.

Yes and no. While most hammer strikes can be blocked, there are also variations that must be dodged. Default to parrying, but prepare to move if you see a yellow flash.

Overhead Strike

Juggernaut attempts to flatten you with an overhead swing.

No, but you’re able to Blink through it and attack from behind.

Uppercut

Juggernaut tries to launch you into the air with a violent hammer uppercut.

No, but you canRepulseaway from it and shoot at its weak spot.

Unlike other Naytibas you’ve faced that use their bodies to harm you, Juggernaut is lugging around a massive hammer. This makes its attack animations incredibly telegraphedsince you can watch it ready its weapon and trace its arcing swings;parrying these blows is thus quite manageable, and you canabuse its recovery frames to lay on some attacks of your own.

New to this fight,Juggernaut can interrupt your combos and push you awayif you get too close, jabbing at you with the hammer handle. This serves as a good reminder tomeasure your aggression, only performing as many combos as you can get away with safely.

The challenge of Juggernaut’s boss fight doesn’t come from a litany of unblockable attacks, since besides a few hammer swing animations, most of his tactics have direct counters. It will attempt to grab you with one of its hands and annihilate you with an overhead smash, butboth of these can be avoided by using Blink.

The boss has a nasty uppercut animation as well, which can send you flying and do huge damage. Thankfully, you can Repulse away from this, giving you a few moments tofire cheap shots at its weak point, located on its front shoulder.

As with most boss fights in the game,a second phase will begin after taking a third of its health bar. The camera will zoom in on Juggernaut as it roars, andits hammer will be imbued with fire effects.

At this point, more unblockable attacks will be added to Juggernaut’s move pool, increasing the challenge slightly; one will see it slam the hammer into the ground, causing lines of fire to emerge from the ground, and it will also leap into the air and try to bring its weight down on you. These can do a lot of damage to you, butthey’re so easy to see coming that you can just dodge away and keep fighting.

Juggernaut’s hammer swings will become more aggressive, now flashing red and delivering attacks in a much quicker fashion. While this may seem dire at first, it benefits you, sinceyou can perform many parries back-to-backand cleave through the boss’s Balance.
