Prior to the start of this Elite Raid Day, you will be able to see which Pokemon Gyms will be hosting Elite Raids in the future.
As with any type of Raid, you will begiven the chance to catch Rayquaza following the successful completion of each Elite Raid.Because this Elite Raid Day features a Mega Pokemon, you will also be rewarded withRayquaza Mega Energywhen completing each Raid, theresource needed to Mega Evolve one of your Rayquaza.

In addition toElite Raids being more difficult than other types of Raids, they function differently from other Raids as well. Like Shadow Raids, Elite Raids can only be attempted in-person,disabling the use of Remote Raid Passesto participate in these Raid battles.
For this reason, make sure to coordinate with a group of other Pokemon Go Trainers, ensuring that you will have enough firepower to defeat Mega Rayquaza. Additionally, it is best to plan where you are going in advance as well, ideally allowing you to complete several Elite Raids in a short amount of time.
Mega Rayquaza Raid Strategies
Due to the difficulty of this Elite Raid, it is crucial that you areusing the best Pokemon possible against Mega Rayquaza. Although Mega Rayquaza has a handful of weaknesses due to its Dragon and Flying dual-typing, you will want touse Pokemon with powerful Ice-type attacks.
This is because of Mega Rayquaza’s double-weakness to this type of attack, dealing significantly more damage than other attack types. Additionally, pick Ice-type Pokemonwith these attacks if possible, further increasing their damage withSame Type Attack Bonus.
It will also be important to attempt this Elite Raid with enough experienced Trainers, ensuring that you deal enough damage to defeat Mega Rayquaza in this battle. In the case of this Raid, it isrecommended that you go into this Raid with at least four to six Trainers.
