The Dollhouse Build Challenge lets you flex your creative skills by building a fully functioning dollhouse, fully sized for your Sims to live in. Your house will be seen fully from an open side,where all the rooms will be visible to make it look like a dollhouse that children would play with.
The Dollhouse Challenge is a building challenge, so you won’t be going into Live Mode at any point during the challenge. You’ll be working entirely out of Build and Buy mode to complete this challenge, so if you’re a fan of CAS, this might not be the best challenge for you; however,if you’re looking for a way to improve your building chops, this is a great challenge to do it with.
Rules For The Dollhouse Build Challenge
While you have plenty of freedom in the Dollhouse Build Challenge, there are some rules you need to adhere to if you want to successfully complete the challenge:
While these rules are set in stone, beyond them,you are free to decorate and build the house however you like.It can be any color,any size so long as the rooms are five to seven tiles deep, and any type of house you want.

Build A Box
To start out with the challenge, it’s easiest to build a simple box or rectangle to begin;this will give you both a front of the house and a back of the house easily.One of the hardest parts of this challenge isnot losing track of the open side of the house, because if you don’t have it marked, it can get lost.
By building a box or rectangle, you’re able to immediately delete the walls to the open side and work from there. The Room Tool is the best wall tool for this challenge;take it and begin to build the house, which will let you build individual rooms or the entire house with the tool.
Model After A Real Dollhouse
Lots of Simmers model houses they build in-game after real houses, andyou can do the same with the Dollhouse Build Challenge.Pick a dollhouse you like, and use it as a guide so you’re able to build that same dollhouse in-game.
You can choose from several dollhouses, from real ones like Victorian-style dollhouses to a Barbie Dreamhouse. If you want, you can even take the many dollhouses from Buy Mode in the game to model after;there are several in-game that you can find under Kids > Toys.
Place The Staircase Facing Forward
It’s overall easier to build during the challenge if your staircase is facing the open side of the house, andwhile this isn’t a rule, keeping rooms the same size without making the house too large is much easier.Many real dollhouses have the interior rooms all the same size, and it makes for a much cleaner look.
As mentioned above, this is not a rule and you’re free to place the staircase however you’d like, but be aware that it will likely make the building significantly largerif you decide to place them the other way sincefull staircases take up a full six tiles. If you build on a smaller lot, this can take up a lot of valuable space.
If you want the best of both worlds, remember that you canturn any stairs into a modular staircase. When you highlight a staircase, click on the white box with two white arrows. You can then drag the stairs around, and this will make them take up less tile space across.
