Similar to other open-server games, you must claim a plot of land before you are able to build your private homestead inPax Dei.It can be a little confusing at first to claim your first plot of land.

Claiming plots is essential to creating protected land for you and your friends to build and thrive on. You can build houses, crafting stations, furniture, and decorations to furnish your claimed land once you have procured it. Additionally, you can move and release your land at any time. To start claiming land in Pax Dei, you will need a hammer and a good spot to set up.

How To Claim A Plot

Claiming a plot is one of thefirst things you may dowhen you first spawn into the game. Thegame’s tutorialwill give you a rundown on how to claim your first plot, but if you’ve missed the tutorial or are coming back to the game after some time, the mechanic can be confusing to remember.

Before you can claim your plot, you first need to havecrafted a hammer. The hammer is how you willbuild items, structures, andcrafting stationsfor the rest of the game.

With the hammer equipped, you will see a little peg on your screen. Use theright mouse buttonto open the build menu. From here, you canclaim plots, build structures, and place pre-crafted props.

The first tabin the hammer menu (appropriatelylabeled ‘Plots’) is where you canclaim, name, and manageyour plots.

Depending on which founder’s edition of the game you purchased, youmay have additional plotsof land available to you. You can manage each plot individually from the build tab.

Select the first ‘unclaimed plot’option in the plot menu andplace the plotwhere you would like your homestead to start. you may walk around and change the placement location of your plot as long as you arenottrying to place your plot inside of already claimed land.

Each plot is circularand centers on the peg in your hammer’s build menu.

Youcannotclaim another player’s land.

How Do Plots Work?

If you have multiple plots available to you, you canplace them next to each otherto expand the area you have claimed. Simply open the plot menu and place your second plotadjacent toyour first plot. Theborders will expand automaticallyto include the new plot.

From the plot menu, you may alsoname your chosen plotsandcreate waypoints. Each plot can be named individually, and as long as you are in your hammer menu, you will see thename of the plot hovering abovethe plot itself.

Your plots will alsoshow up on the player mapwith a house icon and will be named according to what you have chosen to name your plots. If you decide not to name your plots, they will all by defaultshare the name ‘plot.’

Plotsdo notneed to be placedside-by-side. Plots can be placed independently of each other and can be spread out over large areas.

You can strategically plan your plot locations out tocreate resource processing pointsorwaypointsfor your travels.

If you have foundunclaimed property (like chests)lying around the landscape, you can place your plot on top of the property toclaim it. Any property you place your plot on will automaticallybecome yoursand willno longer decay.

No structureswithin the boundaries of your claimed plotwill decay.

You can only assign the ‘private’ permission to itemsinsidethe boundaries of your plot.

How To Release A Plot

If you have outgrown your original plot, don’t like where you’re living, or have found a new location you would like to set up shop in, you can head back to your hammer menu to ‘release’ your plotsto the wilderness.

Released property willstart to decayand canno longer be protectedby the ‘private’ permission. Anyone will be able to interact with any property that you release.

Releasing a plot meanstotally relinquishing ownershipof that plot. Any items or structures that were once inside your plot will then becomepublic property.

Destroying your chests, structures, props, and furnishings willrefund you the material costsof crafting those items. If you are moving your base, trydeconstructing your structuresand items before moving. You canreplace or re-craftthose items on your newly claimed land.
