But you can change what your vessel is called at least, and there’s some pretty creative names out there. So if you want to christen your intergalactic steed, here’s how to change your ship’s name.
Can You Change Your Ships Name In Helldivers 2?
First and foremost,yes you can change your ship’s namein Helldivers 2. The first thing you do after beating the tutorial is that you get tochoose your new vessel’s name. However, instead of writing one yourself, you have to pick what it is from apreselected array of wordsin two lists.
As limiting as this is, in all fairness it’s a good decision as itprovides moderationand does lead to some unexpectedly awesome names or at least encourages you to be creative. Through this the Helldivers 2 Community has become quiteingenious and darkly comedicat times in how they name their ships.
For example, in the first column are things likeobjects,weapons, emotions, and other descriptorsto start things off. Whilst the second is aconjugative that creates a unique combinationfor your name. Such as “Spear of Opportunity”, “Hope Of Patriots” or “Fist of Family Values”.
A fun detail about the ships in Helldivers 2 is that players who leave the game arecan be seen from orbitaround a planet. Their ships are the ones that aresuddenly explodingin the armada.
How To Change Your Ship Name In Helldivers 2
Unlike other games where changing your name or adding a save would be cheekilylocked behind a microtransaction, in Helldivers 2 you can change your name as often as you want. It’scompletely free to rename your shipand it’s incredibly simple to do so.
So if you want torechristen your vessel for a little overhaul, or you felt rushed and picked something underwhelming when you first started then don’t worry as a change is a few clicks away.
First go to yourShip Management Consolewhen you’re orbiting above anyalien planet. This is thelarge array of monitors at the rear of the shipnext to the Hangar Bay on the left where you come in after a mission. In there go to the console and select theDestroyer pageand then “Change Ship Name” on the right side of the screen.
This may bebound to a button if you’re on a console, but you can also mouse over it if you’re on PC. After selecting it you’ll be presented with thatsame screen you saw after the Tutorialwhere you picked your name the first time again. All you have to do then is just choose whatever combination you like.
It’s that simple and best of allit’s freeand can be done whenever you’rein your own ship or on afriends Destroyerif you’re joining them in multiplayer or playing with randoms. Now you can alter your ship’s name byrepeating those steps as often as you like, although you’ll still have to choose from the selection of words each time.
