Yuanwu is a 4-star Electro Resonator inWuthering Waves. This boxing teacher wields gauntlets in battle, summoning a Thunder Wedge to support his alies from off-field. Yuanwu is a very strong hybrid character, capable of outputting decent damage or supporting other Electro Resonators like Calcharo and Yinlin.
While at first Yuanwus kit may come across as unfocused, with the right set up he is a very worthwhile character. Below, we’ll take a look at everything you need to know for building Yuanwu, including the best weapons and Echoes to use, who to pair him with, and how you should prioritize upgrading his Forte Skills.
Best Weapons For Yuanwu
Luckily, some of the best weapons for Yuanwu are 4-stars, meaning you won’t have to get extremely lucky with a 5-star weapon to bring out this Resonator’s full potential.
Description And Reason For Synergy

Amity Accord(4-star)
Increases Resonance Liberation damage by 20% for 15 seconds after Intro Skill is cast.
This weapon has a great effect that gives a much-needed boost to Yuanwu’s personal DPS. It also has Defense % as a substat, which will further increase the damage scaling of his abilities.

Hollow Mirage(4-star)
Grants 3 stacks of Iron Armor when Resonance Liberation is cast. Each Iron Armor stack increases Attack and Defense by 3%, and can stack up to 3 times. A stack is lost when taking damage.
Hollow Mirage provides high base stats in Attack and Defense, with an Attack substat. While maintaining stacks of Iron Armor can be difficult, they are fairly easy to get and provide decent increases to Yuanwu’s damage.

Abyss Surges(5-star)
Increases Energy Regen by 12.8%. When hitting with Resonance Skill, increases Basic Attack damage by 10%, and when hitting with a Basic Attack, increases Resonance Skill damage by 10%.
These 5-star gauntlets have the highest base stats of the weapons available to Yuanwu, while also providing more Energy Regen, which is always good. If you’re using Yuanwu as a mainly off-fielder, you probably won’t see as much benefit from the Basic Attack and Resonance Skill buffs, however.

Stonard(4-star)
Increases Resonance Liberation damage by 18% when Resonance Skill is cast.
For Yuanwu, Stonard is simply outclassed by Amity Accord, providing a slightly less potent Resonance Liberation buff. However, Stonard has CRIT Rate as its substat, meaning Yuanwu’s skills won’t scale as high as they would with a Defense substat like Amity Accord.

Guardian Gauntlets(3-star)
Increases Resonance Liberation damage by 12%.
Similarly, Guardian Gauntlets are outclassed by both Amity Accord and Stonard, but they do provide a Defense substat. This is a good alternative option if you don’t have any of the stronger 4-star gauntlets.
Best Echoes For Yuanwu
While Yuanwu’s kit doesn’t have a clear focus, this means he can technicallyspecialize any role you choosefor him. He can be astrong Electro main DPS, or apowerful off-field support.
Calcharo and Yinlin already occupy both of these spaces with kits dedicated to their roles, but Yuanwu can actually fit in very nicely with these two Resonators. In fact, you may want to use Yuanwu in conjunction with Calcharo and Yinlin thanks to his unique ability to dealsignificant damage to enemy Vibration Strength gauges.
With this in mind, we recommend using theMoonlit Clouds Sonata Effectset with Yuanwu. This will place him more in thesupport role, providingstrong damage buffsandEnergy Regenfor himself and his team.
For Yuanwu’s main Echo, there are two great options in the Moonlit Clouds Set.
The first is theBell-Borne Geochelone. This Echo’s skill deals damage thatscales with Defense, while also providing a damage-reducing shield to all party members. Because Yuanwuscales most of his skills with Defense, you’ll already want to build this stat up as high as possible, further increasing the damage of the Geochelone’s skill.
Alternatively, you may want to use theImpermanence Heronas Yuanwu’s main Echo. While this Echo’s damage doesn’t scale with Defense, it does provide muchhigher Energy Regen, as well as a powerfuldamage buffwhen using Yuanwu’sOutro Skill.
TheBell-Borne Geocheloneis better if you’re using Yuanwuin place of a healer, while theImpermanence Heronis better when used as asupport DPS.

Best Team For Yuanwu
As mentioned above, Yuanwu works best as aVibration Strength-breaker support. Because of this, you’ll want to match him with Resonators who can deal high damage, as with this setup Yuanwu willspend most of the time off-field, contributing damage withThunder Wedge.
Calcharo and Yinlinare two great Electro Resonators that work well with Yuanwu. you’re able to either run one of them paired with Yuanwu and a healer, or run all three together in the same team. Here are a few examples of how you can configure a team for Yuanwu.
Calcharo Carry
This team offers awell-rounded approachwith Yuanwu letting Calcharo shine even brighter withbuffs and off-field Electro Coordinated attacks. Verina or Baizhi will keep the team alive and provide even more damage buffs with the correct Echo builds.
Mono-Electro
This teamforgoes healingin favor ofmore damage. Again, Yuanwu will spend most of his time off-field, allowing Calcharo and Yinlin to take the field more often. Yuanwu will be used here forbreaking the enemy’s Vibration Strength gauge, something he can do faster than both Calcharo and Yinlin.
Yuanwu Skill Upgrade Priority
When spending resources on support characters like Yuanwu, you’ll want to be a bit morepicky about how you upgrade his skills. Because Yuanwu won’t be on the field for most of the time, he won’t get the same benefit from upgrading his full kit as someone like amain DPS characterlike Calcharo or Encore.
Most of Yuanwu’s off-field damage comes from hisResonance Skill, which places aThunder Wedgethat deals Coordinated Attacks whenever another character attacks within its vicinity.
That said, here’s our recommendation for how you should prioritize Yuanwu’s skill upgrades.
Yuanwu gets themost use out of his Resonance Skill and Resonance Liberation, so those should be your first targets. HisForte Circuitalso provides very good scaling to his overall damage, so it’s important to upgrade that as well. Finally, Yuanwu’sBasic Attackand Intro Skillaren’t as impactful when upgraded, so you should save these for last.
Yuanwu’sResonance Chainabilities are all very useful, especially histhird and fourthones, which provideadditional damageandshieldsthat scale off Yuanwu’s Defense, respectively. If you may get enoughduplicatesof Yuanwu to unlock these Resonance Chain effects, you’ll see adrastic improvement in his performance.
