In thePokemon TCG, draw engines can be a powerful addition to almost any deck. Although each type of draw engine can function in a different way, each with its own unique gimmick, the overall purpose of these cards is to allow you to add cards from your deck to your hand.

The Roaring Moon Dudunsparce deck pairs two forms of Roaring Moon with the Dudunsparce draw engine. This allows this deck to focus on drawing, pivoting, and, most importantly, attacking with high-damage moves. In this guide, learn more about how to build and play the Roaring Moon Dudunsparce deck.

Roaring Moon Dudunsparce Deck Best Cards

The three main components of this deck are its namesakes:Roaring Moon, Roaring Moon ex, and Dudunsparce. However, overall, this deck sports a range of opportunities for variation, allowing you to tailor the deck to your specific goals.

Here are some of theessential cards of the Roaring Moon Dudunsparce deckand how they function within the deck.

Roaring Moon ex

Roaring Moon ex is a versatile attackerin the Roaring Moon Dudunsparce deck. Although it can take longer to meet the Energy requirements on its own, cards like Dark Patch and Professor Sada’s Vitality can allow you to attach multiple Energies in a single turn.

During the early game, Roaring Moon ex deals enough damage to take out most non-Rule Box Basic Pokemon through the use of Calamity Storm.

If a Stadium is in play, there is thepotential to even take out Basic Rule Box Pokemon, such as Chi-Yu ex, in order to secure two Prize Cards early on.

For stronger opponents, you can use Roaring Moon ex’s Frenzied Gouging attack to secure aninstant Knock Out. This can be essential in attacking Pokemon likeCharizard ex,Melmetal ex, and Genger ex, which all sport HP over 300.

Using Frenzied Gouging will reduce the HP of your attacking Roaring Moon. Ancient Booster Energy Capsule can help alleviate some of the damage taken as an effect of this attack.

If you happen to lose a Roaring Moon ex to a Knock Out, although you will sacrifice two Prize Cards, this loss of this Ancient Pokemon will serve to helpfuel the damage done by your Roaring Moon.

Roaring Moon

As a single-Prize Pokemon capable of dealing large amounts of damage, Roaring Moon isessential to successful gameplayin the Roaring Moon Dudunsparce deck.

Unlike Roaring Moon ex, which can easily navigate both the beginning and end of the game, Roaring Moon excels toward the end of the game. This is because the power of its Vengeance Fletching attackscales based on how many Ancient cards are in your discardpile.

Pokemon TCG Lugia VSTAR Card

Roaring Moon’s Vengeance Fletching scales off ofallAncient cards. This includes Pokemon, Supporters, and Item cards.

At the beginning of the game, Roaring Moon may not be able to deal more than 100 to 150 damage, depending on how many cards you have been able to use and discard. However, by the end rounds of a match, Vengeance Fletching can easily do over200 damage.

Roaring Moon is an excellent candidate forreturning Knock-Outs. Depending on the deck you are facing, it is highly likely that, even with Ancient Booster Energy Capsule, your Roaring Moon ex will be Knocked Out after using Frenzied Gouging.

Roaring Moon can often be used to return the Knock Out whileonly leaving a single-Prize attacker vulnerablecompared to an ex Pokemon.

Dudunsparce

Dudunsparce isone of themain draw enginesin this deck. Although it is a Stage 1 Pokemon, like many other draw engines, it holds a unique advantage over Pokemon like Kirlia or Bibarel.

First, there areno conditions that will need to be met before you’re able to drawwith Dudunsparce.

Kirlia requires that you discard one card in order to draw two; Bibarel requires that you have no more than five cards in hand, and Radiant Greninja requires you to discard an Energy in order to draw two cards. You don’t have to discard anything to draw with Dudunsparce.

However, while you may not need to discard any cards or meet a hand requirement,Dudunsparce will need to be shuffled back into your deckafter you draw.

While this may seem like a disadvantage, it can actually be exceptionally helpful in moving around your Bench.

The Roaring Moon Dudunsparce deck runs very limited pivoting options. In fact, one of the only ways to get your Active Pokemon back onto the Bench in this deck is to use Prime Catcher.

Because of this, if someone were to gust your Dudunsparce into the Active Spot with no way to retreat, as in the case of Snorlax Stall, you would be stuck.

Because Dudunsparce can shuffle itself back into the deck, however, you’ll rarely ever need to worry about it getting stuck in your Active Spot.

This can also help toprevent you from running out of cards in your deck, as you’ll be able to continuously evolve and shuffle Dudunsparces into your deck.

Roaring Moon Dudunsparce Deck Strategy

Although the Roaring Moon Dudunsparce deck isn’t as flexible as some other decks, it does sport its own level of versatility.

With two main attackers between Roaring Moon and Roaring Moon ex,you’ll be able to pivotbetween these two options todeal the most damage possiblewhile having the option tokeep a two-Prize Pokemon out of the Active Spot.

Although Dudunsparce is a vital component of this deck, it is not your sole draw engine. This is because it can be difficult to maintain a steady supply of Dudunsparces on your Bench.

Instead, you’ll want torely on Radiant Greninjaand Supporter cards for themajority of your drawing needs, at least for the early portion of the game.

Because Radiant Greninja discards Energy cards, it can actually be essential at the start of the game. It allows you to stock your discard pile with the Energies needed for Professor Sada’s Vitality and Dark Patch.

Overall, you’ll want to go second in this deck. This is because going second allows you to utilize Supporters, which can help give you the best potential for getting your Bench set up.

Depending on how well you draw into your first hand and what is available to you, you may even have thepotential to attackwith Roaring Moon ex on your first turn.

Roaring Moon Dudunsparce Deck Common Threats

Two of the main threats for the Roaring Moon Dudunsparce deck areLugia VSTAR and Charizard ex.These two decks have two advantages of Roaring Moon Dudunsparce, which can make them difficult to navigate in a match.

First, both Lugia VSTAR and Charizard ex are able torapidly accelerate Energyacross their board. This can allow them to readily set up Pokemon within a single turn, allowing them to Knock Out your Pokemon quickly.

This is especially true in the case of Charizard ex, which scales based on the number of Prize Cards you take.

On that same note, the other disadvantage is that these decks are able to do so much damage at once. Aside from Roaring Moon ex, the Pokemon in Roaring Moon Dudunsparce sport fairly low HP. This can make itdifficult to return Knock Outsand remain in the Prize Card trade with your opponent.
