Still Wakes The Deepsees you take on the role of an oil rig worker in the North Sea. While at first the station and its inhabitants seem normal, things quickly take a turn for the worse when the facility is rocked by some sort of unnatural phenomena.
The presence spreads itself along every surface of the station, and in turn infects many of its crew. These warped workers, now crazed with murderous intent, are obstacles for players and protagonist Caz McLeary while they attempt to escape. The monsters can’t be fought or killed, so you’ll need to sneak past them if you want any hope of surviving Caz’s doomed work trip.

Make Use Of Your Environment
When entering any new area, pay attention to your surroundings; you may notice thatthere are several convenient places to hide, such as lockers or the underside of platforms. The level design isn’t exactly subtle, andthe wealth of hiding spots painted in bright yellow means you’re sure to encounter a mutated crew member soon.
When the monster inevitably appears, run to your nearest hiding spotand stay there until you see it pass by you.Take this time to survey the area, and find the next closest safe zone.Darting from spot to spot will keep you aliveand get you safely to your destination.

Always Carry An Item
The oil rig in Still Wakes the Deep islittered with items. These includehelmets, hammers, bottles, and more, presumably strewn about as a result of the damage the station sustained. While these might not seem to be very useful in the face of a monstrous invasion, they can become incredibly useful as distractions.
Pick one of these items up whenever you can; you’re never penalized for holding on to them. They can be thrown to another part of the stage, making noise anddrawing monsters away from you. This canbuy you time to hide, or give you the precious seconds you need to reach your objective.

Look Behind You
In many horror classics, reducing a player’s vision is used to heighten the terror they experience, scaring them in ways that would be pedestrian were they given a better view of their surroundings. Still Wakes the Deep elects to take a different path, allowing players to see not just what’s in front of them, but also what’s behind.
A button can cause Caz to whip his head around, giving you a glimpse of your flank. Utilizing this mechanic can prove invaluable when locked in an area with a monster, letting you gauge the distance between the two of you.

If you already know that you’re being chased by a monster, don’t stop to look behind you. It will only slow you down, and potentially lead to your death.
If All Else Fails, Run
If you are left with no options or are about to be caught by a crewmate, just run. Every monster encounter can beended by making it safely to the next story objective, so if you know where you need to reach, it can be a decent strategy.
However, this shouldn’t be your go-to tactic. Oftentimes, the damaged oil rig will be difficult to navigate, requiring you to enter hidden paths or climb under debris that you might not immediately understand.Sprinting will instantly alert the monster of your position, andunless you can parse the surrounding environment very quickly, you’ll meet a gruesome end.
Enabling hints will highlight your objective location on the screen, making it much easier to reach your destination.
