Quick Links
The best Hoenn starter (no I will not take notes) is making its Tera Raid debut inPokemon Scarlet And Violet.Players can receive a Swampert with a Poison Tera Type and special mark for a limited time.Swampert doesn’t have a lot of special tricks up its sleeve; it just makes use of its wide move pool to hit you right in the weaker defensive stat.
The Poison Tera Type suits Swampert well, as it has coverage for all of its weaknesses, so you’ll have to rely on Psychic types if you want to hit it for super effective damage. Even then, you’ll have to play carefully to take Swampert out before time runs out.
Event Information
Swampert will be available until Sunday, andwill come back next week from June 7-9.
During the second week of the event, you can grind on Blissey Raidsif you need help obtaining Tera Shards or Exp Candies.
When you defeat Swampert the first time, you’ll be able to catch it andreceive the TM for Sludge Wave. Youcanonly catch one Swampert, but you can beat the raid multiple times forincreased odds of receiving Herba Mystica.
Swampert’s Raid Build
Here are all the moves Swampert will use in the Raid.
100

90

95

85

110

Swampert sets itself apart from previous raids by beingevenly split between physical and special damage, so you can’t rely solely on good physical or good special defense.
Swampertwill only use Yawn once, just before half the timer is gone, soyou’ll want to save a heal cheerto get rid of sleep without fainting.
Other than that, it’s a war of attrition. Swampert has a respectable 90-base defense and special defense, but itwill only reset stats once for each side, so you’re relatively free to set up.
While Swampert has its hidden ability, Damp, that won’t matter unless you plan on using Self-Destruct or Explosion, which you should not do.
Psychic types are very good for this fight asthey don’t take super effective damage from any of Swampet’s moves.
The Best Pokemon To Beat Swampert
In terms ofPokemon available in the base game of Scarlet and Violet,Slowbro is your best bet, thanks to its great bulk. Use the following build:
Psychic
Amnesia, Nasty Plot, Stored Power
Use Amnesia three times, then use Stored Poweruntil Swampert resets your stats.
Set up again with Amnesia, then Nasty Plot to max out both your Special Defense and Special Attack, usinga Heal Cheer whenever you drop into red healthor areput to sleep by Yawn.
Once both of these are maxed out, use Stored Power. At max Special Attack and Defense, it should deal a good chunk of damage to Swampert’s shield even before you terastalize.
If you have a Mewtwo, you may use a variation of this strategy with that; just swap maxing out your stats for three Calm Minds and use Psystrike instead of Stored Power.
you may also swap Amnesia for Iron Defense, or potentially run both and do two Iron Defense and two Amensia if Swampert is really giving you trouble.
Stored Power is stronger the more stats you have boosted, so the goal is to use your time efficiently.
Since this is a strategy that relies heavily,it does not translate well to online raids. You’re better off doing the raid with NPC trainers.
While this isn’t necessary, if you get an NPC trainer with Arboliva it will make the fight even easier.
